LESSON EXEMPLAR IN GRADE 7 SCIENCE

Content Standard:
 Demonstrates understanding of constant and uniformly accelerated motion in one-
dimension.
I. Objectives:
 Describes the motion of an object in terms of distance or displacement
II. Subject matter: Motion: (Sarao – considered a movable heritage in the country)
a. References & materials:
i. Grade 7 Learner’s Module; Pictures of “Sarao” or jeepney
III. Procedure:
a. Unfreezing Activity: Interfaith prayer and checking of attendance
b. Motivation: Show pictures of sarao being used as a daily means of
transportation here in the Philippines. Ask students of their previous knowledge
of sarao:
i. How did the Philippines come up with sarao or jeepney?
c. Lesson Proper: Define motion in terms of distance or displacement:
i. Distance refers to the length of the entire path that the object
travelled.
ii. Displacement refers to the shortest distance between the object’s
two positions, like the distance between its point of origin and its
point of destination, no matter what path it took to get to that
destination.
*use our very own sarao as an example and stressing its importance as a
movable heritage of the Philippine culture. Afterwards practice problem solving
activities on the board.
IV. Evaluation:
1. Consider the figure below. And answer the questions given.

0m 10 m

5m

10 m

1. How far did the sarao travel?

2. Can you give one difference between distance and displacement based on the given
examples?
3. When can displacement be equal to zero? Is it possible to get zero displacement?
4. What if the sarao in the illustration goes back to its starting position, what will happen
to their respective distances?
5. How about their displacements

V. Assignment:

Research in advance on speed and velocity and be prepared for the next class
discussion.
