Chapter 1
INDEPENDENT VARIABLEOF THE STUDY
BACKGROUND
The impact1.)
of Introduction
homework activities

The primary purpose of assigning homework is to help students strengthen the skill they learn at
school.Homework is generally uses as a learning resource for educational activities. It provides student opportunities
to improve their learning habits, learning performance, and aims to increase their academic achievements.Homework
is something children do beyond regular school day to help them understand in response to school
guidance.Homework provides a broad variety of educator and parent/career to faster child learning.

Homework builds a connexion between school and home. When you're in school, parent can't spend much
time with you.Homework helps you keep up with what you do in your calsses daily. For five decades, homework has
been a big problem for elementary and secondary high schools.Homework is an important part of a child's education
and add a lot to the development of a child.Proponents and opponents are making arguments is support of their
views on the need and value of homework in the growth of students and the creation of knowledge. One of the goals
of our teaching is for children to develop as independent learners. And we agree that doing homework is one of the
key ways in which children can learn independently.

In a general sense, academic progress is an increase in student's learning.More specifically, for the purpose
of ESSA accountability academic progress refers to students increasing their learning relative to grade level
standards. This is measured using statewide tests in math and reading, and those subjects are used as a sample of
students progress overall.
Further studies needs to be conducted to address of students these issues, in order to determine whether or
not assigning homework is beneficial for other students with special needs..

2.) Conceptual framework

DEPENDENT VARIABLE

Academic Achievements
1. Test grades
2. Test Average
3. Final Average

INTERVENING VARIABLE

Previous knowledge
Affinity for Subject

The illustration above shows that variables in conducting in this research study. There are 3
variables that are being used, the independent variable, intervening variable, and lastly the
dependent variable. In conducting this research the independent variable is the impact of
homework activities, the intervening variable are the previous knowledge and Affinity for
subject, and for the last is the Dependent variable are the Academic achievements and they have a
test grades,test Average,and final Average.

3.) Research Hypothesis

Alternative hypothesis
–There is a significant relationship between homework activities and the academic achievements of grade 12
students in Dacon National high school.

Null hypothesis
–There is no significant relationship between homework activities and academic achievements of grade 12 students
in Dacon National high school.

–The present study was conducted to find out the impact of homework on the students academic achievements
of grade 12 students in Dacon National high school.

RESEARCH QUESTIONS?

2.)What impacts do homework have on students progress
3.) Is there a significants factor between the impact of Homework Activities and their academic progress?

5.) Importance of the study

The key focus of this analysis was on the"Impact of homework on the students academic achievements of
grade 12 students in Dacon National high school. The findings will benefit students, parents, and studies in this field
and open new research door.

6.) Scoop and Limitation

There are potential limitations that could affect the results of the study. One limitation is that self–regulation
skills won't be taught as frequently as needed. Also, One other thing that effects students achievements is the number
of absences. There will be no way to account for this in my study. The wide variety of students in this study might
also affect the results. It will also be challenging to take the difficulty of each unit into consideration as some are
harder than others. The difficulty levels between the different unit test will not be able to be taken into consideration
in this study.

7.) Definition of Terms

1.) Achievements– achievements is the quality of a students work.

2.) Homework– (Cooper says) Homework is school work assigned by the teacher but is completed in the
absence of teacher.
3.) Motivation–motivation has the qualifies of "energizing or activating behaviour.. directing behaviour...or
regulating persistence of behaviour"(Ford,1992,as cited in Alderman,2008).
4.) Self–Regulated–"Students (have)active participation in their own learning: including regulation of cognitive
motivation and metacognitive components" (Alderman,2008,p.292).
