Dear Mr Burrows,
It is great news that Sandra Rose is visiting Frampton Secondary School! To be
honest, I have a few useful comments and suggestion about the schedule you have
already made.
In the beginning, I really like the thought of displaying the acrobatics
performance by year 9 pupils. I am convinced (that) they will enjoy showing Miss
Rose what students can do!
Moreover, could the meeting with a famous sportswoman and the parents be an
hour long rather than half an hour? It is an important meeting and there is a lot to talk
over.
Nevertheless, I do not appreciate the idea to show Miss Rose the new tennis
courts, because they aren't finished yet. Why don't we show her the new gym instead?
Last but not least, can we invite the whole school to Miss Rose's talk? I am
sure everyone would feel the benefits of hearing it.
I hope my several pieces of advice will be helpful.
Yours sincerely,
Emily Brown

There are both advantages and disadvantages ofstudying abroad

The concept of studying overseas increasingly attracts lots of people, especially

undergraduate students. This trend has both advantages and disadvantages, but, in my
book, the benefits do outweigh the drawbacks.
On the one hand, there are a few major difficulties for the pupil who chose to
go abroad for gaining their education. Firstly, homesick would be the substantive
obstacle, which may affect their motivation and mood. While staying away from
family, students must get used to new habits, lifestyle in different place. For instance,
Asian coeds usually have difficulty in getting accustomed to the cold winter in
European countries. In addition, extra budget is obligatory for living and studying
overseas. For example, there are a lot of various fees such as rent, food expenses, gas,
water and electricity bills that foreigners, who are obtaining grounded knowledge,
have to pay each month, not to mention the difference in currency denominations.
On the other hand, I am strongly convinced (that) the advantages are much
more significant than abovementioned negative sides of studying overseas. A very
good point to consider is the developed education with the high-quality
infrastructures of the abroad universities. Moreover, students have an opportunity to
meet lots of people from all over the world, who could teach them the new languages
or at least help them to improve (to master) the standard of English. Apart from this,
living on their own will give the pupils a good chance to train their independence and
discipline. Coeds must manage expenses and take care of themselves while
guaranteeing personal studies.
To sum up, even though gaining knowledge abroad is not for everyone, and
there are certainly some disadvantages to it, I believe that the youth should have this
priceless experience once in a lifetime in order to discover how immense the world is
and how many career summits they can reach.
