Content Standards
The learner demonstrate an understanding of common and distinct musical characteristics of
South Asia and the Middle East.

Performance Standard
The learner performs South Asia and the Middle East music with appropriate pitch rhythm and
expression, and style.

I. Objectives
At the end of the session the learners should be able to:
1. discuss the vocal and music instruments of Pakistan.
2. perform Pakistan vocal music.
3. value the Pakistan’s music contribution to south asian culture.

II. Subject Matter


A. Topic: Music of Pakistan

III. Procedure
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Greetings
2. Opening Prayer
3. Checking of Attendance
B. Review: Concept Mapping
The learners will recognize the India musical instruments and will identify their hornbostel-sachs
classification briefly.

C. Motivation
The learners will play games “Shadigi Shadigi Shapoko” (Series Step Dance)
whil playing Urdu Rhyme Song “Pakistani Nursery Rhymes”.
D. Lesson Proper Listening Activity
1. Activity: The learners will listen to vocal, instrumental music and music
instruments of Pakistan.
2. Analysis:
What are their styles?
What are their Hornbostel-Sachs Classicification?
How can you describe the sound of the instruments?
3. Abstraction Open-ended Statements…
The learners will complete the following open-ended statements.
a. I highly appreciate the ______________________________
b. The musical instruments that I can recall is ______________
c. I can describe the vocal music of Pakistan as ____________
d. How does music reflect the different aspects of their culture?

4. Application
The group will be divided into 2 or 4 groups, the learners will be asked to
perform a non dialogue play likely an interpretation of the vocal music.

V. Assignment
Compare the contrast/Instrumetal music of Pakistan from the music of India. Draw this
diagram on a sheet of paper and fill in the spaces.
