titled “Why People Fall out of Love?” and then answer the questions that follow.

I- To fall out of love is painful. But to remain lonely because you were lost is the most
stupid thing to be. Enjoy life. Look at me now. I deeply fell in love with someone
before, but he cheated on me.

II- Perhaps, it is the fact that no relationship can last without trials and sufferings. If
both men and women are weak in facing all the challenges of their relationships,

an indescribable feeling. A feeling that will blanket all your being a person. But
what must be the reason why people fall out of love?

Parts of an Argumentative Essay
1. INTRODUCTION- It introduces the problem and gives the background information needed
for the argument and the thesis statement.
Example:
Aggressive driving is a phenomenon, which has only recently got the publicworried.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Council (NHTSC) defines aggressive driving as the
“operation of motor vehicle in a manner that endanger or is likely to endanger persons
or property.”Actions such as running red lights, improper passing, overtaking on the
left, improper lane change, failing to yield, improper turns, running stop signs,
tailgaiting, careless driving, and speeding are examples of aggressive driving. Such
actions are dangerous to other road users. Aggressive driving should be avoided because
it causes crashes, injuries, and fatalities.

What is the problem in text? The text presents the problem about "aggressive driving" which
should be avoided.

2. BODY- This contains the reasons included in the topic sentence and is supported by details
which can be examples, statistics, personal experience, or quotations.
Example:
The first reason why aggresive driving should be avoided is it causes crashes.
According to NHTSC, between 78 percent (excessive speed) and 100 percent (improper
passing) of the cases of aggressive driving resulted in traffic crashes and 96 percent of
the drivers cited for “folloing too closely” or tailgaiting caused crashes as a result of their
aggressive driving. Moreover, “running red light”, “improper passing,” and “overtaking
on the left” topped other categories of aggressive driving in contributing to traffic crashes.
Another reason why aggressive ðriving should be avoided is it causes injuries.
NHTSC states that the percentages of the injuries caused by aggressive driving are, in
almost all categories of aggressive driving, above 100 percent.
Aggressive driving also causes fatalities. “Overtaking on the left” appears to be the
most important contributing factor in traffic fatalities as it relates to aggressive driving.
“Improper lane change”, “running stop sign”, and “running red light” rank second
through four in terms of their contribution to traffic fatalities.

Give three reasons why aggressive driving should be avoided? In the above-sample text,
the reasons why aggressive driving should be avoided are the following: It causes crashes.
It causes injuries. It causes fatalities. Note that after each reason is/are supporting
detail/s
3. CONCLUSION – It restates the main claim and gives one or two general statements that
exactly summarize the arguments and support the premise.

Example:
The above evidences show that aggressive driving causes crash injuries and
fatalities. Hence, aggressive driving should be avoided. Since the opening on the North-
South Highway, the number of kilometers of roads in the country has increased by one
percent while the number of vehicle miles driven has increased by 35 percent. More cars
and more drivers are aslo on the road leading to more aggressive drivers.

What word gives you the clue that the paragraph summarizes the argument? If you
noticed, the paragraph uses the phrase "the above evidences" and the conjunction "hence"
which are the clues that the paragraph is a concluding paragraph

Activity 2
Directions: Label each part of an argumentative essay using the following codes. Write IP
for the introductory paragraph, BP for body paragraph, and CP for concluding paragraph.

1. In summary, love is just so magical that it can’t really have a stable definition.
Whatever age it drops, it is still love. It brings a person lots of lessons to learn,
and it’s a good teacher. There may be problem to face but at the end of the day,
you can still feel that happiness inside your very heart.

2. Another disadvantage of grading is that grades of a student are not updated. We

are an emerging division where excellence is a habit and allegiance for quality is
a pledge. That means the grades of a student for the first year of school will still
be valid in the last year, whether his knowledge about the subject has improved
or deteriorated. Considering all the factors that affect a student’s exams and
marks, even a small incident may have a great impact in the long run.

3. Same sex marriage as we know refers to the marriage of partners with same
biological sex or gender identity, as we can see; marriage should be partners of
man and woman. Filipinos are known to be hospitable and light-hearted since
“love” as we know, it chooses no one, with “love” there is nothing wrong, with
“love” you were blind, but why there is “love at first sight”? Is it the answer for
having this same sex marriage?

Let’s Do More

Activity 1
Directions: Read the following essay. Match the parts of an argumentative essay in
column A with their corresponding numbered parts in column B. Write the letter of
your answer on the space provided each number.

Money Can’t Buy Happiness

Money is one of the most important things in our lives, next to food to eat, home
to live in, and ways to get from here to there but with all of those things, you need money.
1.
So that’s where the “money can buy happiness” phrase comes in because people think
that since money can buy everything else then it can easily buy happiness also.

Can money really buy happiness? Some individuals seem to think so, as for
most people, they believe that if you have a lot of money then you can buy happiness.
The thing is, it depends. For instance, if you have been poor your whole life then
becoming rich would make you very happy, but if you’ve been rich your whole life, that’s
different. It wouldn’t really matter as much because there would be a plentiful amount
of money in your life already, and it wouldn’t be something desperately needed.
I believe that money cannot buy happiness, and actually I believe that in some
ways money can negatively consume your life which would not make you very happy.
What I mean by this is, say someone is desperate for money, and then they will do
anything to get their hands on it. That could mean robbing someone of it, which would
2. consume your life by getting you thrown in jail. Another thing could be that if someone
is not desperate for money but the complete opposite, that they have so much they don’t
know what to do with it, then they could become greedy. This would make their life all
about money, therefore consuming them in their obsession to wanting more and more.
In my personal experience with money, I’ve had the amount of an average
American family. Meaning that I wasn’t filthy rich, but I wasn’t poor either. The amount
that I’ve had was enough to make me happy because we didn’t struggle with anything
like food and other necessities; I say it’s better than nothing. Speaking of nothing,
looking at others who don’t have much money makes me appreciate my life more even
if I am not wealthy. Being average isn’t that bad.

Money might be able to make you happy but that’s not the point, the point is
3. that it can’t buy happiness. Being happy is an emotion, it is something you feel, not
something you buy. That is why …Happiness is priceless!
