Right angle
- An angle that forms a square
corner is a right angle.
- A right angle measures 90°.

An acute angle measures
less than 90°.
Angle SEB is an acute angle.
Obtuse Angle
- An angle greater than a right angle is
an obtuse angle.
- An obtuse angle measures more than
90° but less than 180°.
- Angle AGL is an obtuse angle

Triangles and
Quadrilaterals
Group the figures below into
triangles and quadrilaterals by
writing the figure number in the
correct column of the table.
A triangle is a polygon with 3 sides and
3 angles.
TRIANGLES are three-sided polygons
with three corners.
Some triangles have two equal sides,
while others have three.
But some have no equal sides at all.
QUADRILATERALS are four-sided
polygons with four corners. Some
quadrilaterals have sides which are
equal while some do not. Still others
have sides which are parallel, while
some have sides which are
perpendicular.
Quadrilaterals are polygons
with 4 sides and 4 angles.
Rectangle, square, rhombus,
parallelogram and trapezoid
are examples of quadrilaterals.
The polygons inside the box
below include triangles and
quadrilaterals. Group the
triangles together and
quadrilateral together.
Answer the following
questions below. Draw a
triangle if your answer is YES
and a square if your answer
is NO.
YES
1. Do all triangles have three sides and
three angles?
NO
2. Do all triangles have four sides and four
angles?
YES
3. Is any three-sided polygon a triangle?
YES
4. Is any four-sided polygon a quadrilateral?
YES
5. Can a quadrilateral be divided into two
triangles?
