6th LAC SESSION Minutes

According to Simon Mainwaring, “Social Media is not about exploitation of


technology but service to community”. To further develop our skills in navigating various
social media platforms, Mrs. Norvy C. Base shared to us her topic on Engaging Social Media
in Blended Learning Modality
Last February 24, 2022 the MAKABAYAN Group conducted the 6 th LAC Session. The
session was facilitated by Mrs. Norvy C. Base a TLE Teacher. It started with a prayer,
nationalistic song and energizer played thru multimedia. Then, House Rules and checking
of attendance followed. After all the preliminaries, the facilitator started the session. She
presented to the participants the objectives of the session for us to be fully aware of those
as we go along with our session.
For the activity, the participants were tasked to guess the logos of social media
platforms presented. Some of those were messenger, google classroom, microsoft teams,
youtube and the like. The facilitator also presented a diagram on blended learning and the
roles human and technology on the implementation of blende learning. Then the
advantages of engaging social media in blended learning was presented. To name a few, it
will provide useful platform for teaching and cooperative learning. The facilitator also
presented the benefits of utilizing social media platforms like messenger and youtube. The
participants also shared their experiences in their utilization of these platforms to the
teaching learning process.
For the application part, the participants were tasked to present their possible
approach on social media engagement on the situations assigned. The participants with
enthusiasm shared their ideas towards the solution of the assigned scenario. Then, an open
forum was conducted and most of the participants shared their insights and reflection for
the day’s discussion. For the making of the output the participants were tasked to submit
documentation on how they utilize social media to engage learners. The session ended full
of learning!
