CHILDLINE Chandigarh team initiated and celebrated
the CHILDLINE Se Dosti week with the theme of “Child-
friendly and safe neighbourhood for children is everyone’s
responsibility”. The team met with Chandigarh police and
tied dosti band to the DSP Anjita Chapla, SHO Jaspal Singh
Bhullar and the entire police staff members.
During the CHILDLINE Se Dosti week, CHILDLINE Chandigarh
team met with the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and tied
suraksha bandhan band to the Chairperson, Ms. Sangeeta
Vardhan and the other staff members of the committee.

Vasant Vihar
CHILDLINE Vasant Vihar team celebrated the CHILDLINE
Se Dosti week with the officers of Vasant Vihar police
station. They explained and created awareness about the
importance of a “Safe Neighbourhood” for every child’s
growth and good life.
The team distributed CHILDLINE awareness surgical masks
and tied friendship band to all the police personnel.

CHILDLINE New Delhi team went to N.P Boys Senior
Secondary School, Mandir Marg. They interacted with the
principal, teachers and children of the school and made
them ‘Dosts’ of CHILDLINE by tying friendship band to them.
As a part of the CHILDLINE Se Dosti week, they created
awareness about child rights and protection by screening
‘Komal’ film and other videos of CHILDLINE 1098.

During the CHILDLINE Se Dosti week, the team prepared a
radio programme “Bacchon Ki Nazar Se”. This programme
was aired on AIR FM Radio 102.6 on 22nd November, 2018.
On 20th November, 2018, during the closing ceremony of and importance of education and hygiene for children, a

gave a good visibility to CHILDLINE 1098 and its services. At
the end of the rally, a nukkad natak was enacted explaining

CHILDLINE Hisar team celebrated CHILDLINE Se Dosti week
by organising a cake and balloon party for the children at
the learning centre. The team included fun activities such as
drawing, painting and more.
During the week, CHILDLINE Hisar team also created
awareness about child protection and child rights and
screened relevant movies for a better explanation to the
participants. The participants in these activities mainly

CHILDLINE Rohtak team organized an awareness programme
in government school. The participants of the programme
were protection officer, District Child Protection Unit,
children and teachers. The team shared about child rights
and functioning of CHILDLINE, domestic violence, child
marriage and child abuse related issues. The principal of the
school also participated in the programme and promoted
child participation.
The aim was to make the children and stakeholders in the
schools, railway station, bus stand and nearby areas a crucial
part of this programme.

CHILDLINE Faridabad team celebrated CHILDLINE Se Dosti
week by performing various awareness sessions and
conducted signature campaigns and rallies to spread the
word for CHILDLINE 1098 services. During the week, the
team visited Indira Nagar government school and celebrated
with the children and teachers by conducting drawing and
painting competition.
With an aim to enlighten the participants about child rights
and protection, nukkad natak was performed at Ballabhgarh
railway station. Posters were also pasted at several places
and pamphlets were distributed to make people understand
the importance of safety for every child and usage of
CHILDLINE toll free number 1098.

With an aim to create awareness and sensitize the people and
community regarding children issues and human trafficking,
a seven day awareness programme was initiated by the
CHILDLINE Gurugram team. The main targeted / focused
areas for awareness programme were railways stations, bus
stands, metro stations, common streets and pavements.
During the CHILDLINE Se Dosti week programme, campaigns
were done to make people aware about good touch and bad
touch, child rights and CHILDLINE magical number 1098.
The participants were informed about the functioning of the
toll-free number and that the service is basically rendered
to children in need of care and protection.

The CHILDLINE team shared the importance of
communication between parents and their children. The
team encouraged the parents to build communication with
their children and help them memorize their residential
address, locality, nearby areas etc. This would enable the
police / restoration team to help the children in case they
ever get lost or missing.
Karnal
CHILDLINE Karnal team organised CHILDLINE Se Dosti week
from 14th November to 20th November 2018. During the week,
the major places covered were computer centre, vocational
training centre, fashion designing centres, beauty care centres,
civil hospital, railway station and villages. The team tied Dosti
band to children and staff members of the various offices
visited. Pamphlets were also distributed at some places such
as civil hospital, railway station and bus stands.
Awareness sessions were held and children were explained
about child rights and protection. They were also informed
about the issues such as child labour, child trafficking and child
abuse. They were encouraged to take the help of CHILDLINE
1098 service when they come across any child in distress.

Hausla, 2018
Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of
India with the support of CHILDLINE India Foundation, NIPCCD
and CARA hosted a four-day celebration named Hausla 2018
from 26th November to 29th November for the children
residing in Child Care Institutions (CCIs) across the country. The
event aimed for inspiring and mainstreaming these children by
providing a national platform to showcase their sporting skills
and other talents. During the week-long celebration, different
activities apart from sports were also organized like debate
competition, free expression (Abhivyakti), painting competition,
athletics meet, football, chess competition and CHILDLINE
birthday celebrations. The event was held at NIPCCID Campus
and was felicitated by NIPCCD, CHILDLINE India Foundation and
MWCD. More than 700 children from Child Care Institutions
(CCIs) across the country participated in the event. CHILDLINE
India Foundation played an active role right from the initial
stages of planning including logistics, facilitation and provided
voluntary support throughout the event.
Hausla Event was inaugurated on 26th November 2018 by
the MWCD Hon’ble Secretary Shri Rakesh Srivastava. Post
inauguration, painting, debate and chess competitions were
organized. Children participated with zest and enthusiasm
in all the competitions. A painting competition was
organized as paintings are considered to be the best mode
for children to express their feelings through fun with colors
and also helps in their creative skills development. The
painting competition was judged by a panel of three judges.
The debate competition forced the children to consider two
perspectives, not just their own but that of others also. It
encouraged the kids to anticipate objections towards their
arguments and to respond to counter arguments. Hence,
the debate competition was organized in two rounds -
preliminary and final round.

On 27th November 2018, Abhivyakti (free expression) event
was organized on the theme of safe spaces for children in
family, schools, child care institutions and public places.
Children were given freedom to express their ideas and

art, music, dance or any other medium. This activity gave
the children an opportunity to explore and enhance their
creativity as every child thinks differently and has unique
ideas. State-wise teams performed on the assigned topics.
Their performances were judged by a panel of three judges.
A happy childhood is synonymous with the right to play. It is
known that sports activities not only bring out the physical
abilities in children, they also encourage their spirit to win
over challenges and prepare them to accept defeat with
grace. On 28th and 29th November 2018, Athletics meet
was organized at Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium. Smt Maneka
Sanjay Gandhi, Union Minister for Ministry of Women and
Child Development flagged off the Hausla 2018 Sports Meet
in the presence of Ms. Mary Kom, Indian Olympic Boxer and
Member of Parliament. Various competitions were organized
at the athletics meet (100 meters race, 100 x 4-meter relay
race, long jump, high jump), and football matches for boys and
girls from CCIs.

CHILDLINE Birthday Party celebration
On the evening of 28th November, CHILDLINE celebrated
the birthday of children associated with different civil
society organizations at NIPCCD. During the party, various
activities were organized for fun and enjoyment. CHILDLINE

venue with the presence of more than 700 children coming
from various parts of country to participate in the event.
The four-day event, Hausla 2018, celebrated by the MWCD and
CHILDLINE for children from Child Care Institutions (CCIs),
was culminated through the concluding ceremony organized
on 29th November 2018 at Sri Fort Auditorium. Justice
Deepak Gupta, Hon’ble Judge, Supreme Court of India and
Ms. Kalpana Saroj, Padma Shri Awardee and entrepreneur
were the Chief Guests for the ceremony. Addressing the
gathering, Justice Deepak Gupta said that the children should
fear nothing and believe in oneself and their ability. He also
remarked that Hausla event should be done even at regional Puppet show
levels in the coming years. Delivering an inspirational address,
the Guest of Honour, Ms. Kalpana Saroj shared her personal
story of ‘achievement against all odds’, leaving the children
motivated and extended an affectionate standing ovation.
Children from different Child Care Institutions presented the
cultural programme which was appreciated by one and all.
Winners of all the competitions and sports activities were
applauded and won prizes for their achievements.

week from 7th November to 14th November 2018. The team
inaugurated the celebrations with a signature campaign

Amritsar team visited various places and conducted fun-
filled activities such as kite flying, drawing competition,
balloons flying etc.

CHILDLINE Dungarpur team celebrated the CHILDLINE Se
Dosti week from 14th November to 20th November 2018. The
whole week of the celebrations was planned in a great manner
by the team. It involved participation from children, district
level and local administration, PRIS, community, collaborative
and supporting organizations etc.
The week began with tying of friendship band to general public
and district officials, thus making them an integral part of
CHILDLINE. In order to spread awareness about consequences
of child marriage, the team organized a puppet show in a
government school where the participants were made to
swear that they will always extend help to any child in distress
by calling the CHILDLINE 1098 service.
The other interesting activities throughout the week included
children’s party, sports, kite flying, signature campaign and it
concluded with an awareness rally done by the children and
CHILDLINE team members.

CHILDLINE Aligarh team conducted a number of activities
during the CHILDLINE Se Dosti week. The team met with the
principal, teachers and children of Heritage International
School, Aligarh and conducted CHILDLINE 1098 awareness
sessions along with the poster making competition. The
participants were explained the importance of child
safety and child rights and they were urged to make use
of the toll free number 1098 when they see any child in
need or distress.

team organized a CHILDLINE Se Dosti week, which was

On 15th November 2018, a signature campaign was

team made the participants aware of the CHILDLINE 1098

CHILDLINE Guwahati railway team observed Children’s Day
and World Child Rights Day with different programmes
and activities. A week long awareness campaign called
CHILDLINE Se Dosti was conducted from 14th November
to 20th November. ‘CHILDLINE Se Dosti’ is a movement
observed every year nationwide to reach people from
different walks of life, to make them aware about the service
and to make friends (‘Dosts’) for CHILDLINE.

During the week, CHILDLINE Guwahati team conducted
special awareness sessions and orientation programme
on child rights and protection. They reached out to people
at railway station, nearby slum areas, outstation trains,
children of government schools etc. The team interacted
CHILDLINE Guwahati team tied dosti band to police officials

with community people and children to educate them about
CHILDLINE 1098 services and made them aware about child
care and protection, J.J. Act 2015, POCSO Act 2012, Child

celebrations organized by Indian Council for Child Welfare,
Assam State Branch (ICCW/ASB). Children from shelter home
danced, sang and rejoiced during the celebrations. ICCW/
ASB conducted various competitions at different schools
and distributed prizes to the winners. The informative and
fun-filled week concluded by tying dosti band to all railway
officials of Guwahati railway station - Deputy Station

CHILDLINE Bishnupur team organized CHILDLINE Se Dosti
week campaign along with the different stakeholders and
other sections of the society. The main aim of the campaign
was to involve more vulnerable children in the programme
and to increase their participation levels in the society as
per the United Nations Convention on Child Rights.
The children displayed their talents by way of painting,
recitation, songs, monologues, fashion shows and also
expressed their thoughts on being a participant in the
CHILDLINE se Dosti programme.

the members of the Sasatra Sima Bal (SSB) and imparted
information about CHILDLINE 1098 toll free number with

CHILDLINE Se Dosti week was celebrated with an aim to
ensure empowerment of children through child rights
awareness drive as well as capacity building on Child
Protection Policy. Through this celebration, we tried to
strengthen safety net under umbrella policy for the children
by making them tie CHILDLINE Se Dosti band to the different
stakeholders and taking their signatures as a matter of
promise to help all children in distress.

The week observed various activities such as rally, nukkad
natak, signature campaign and other recreational activities
ensuring participation from all the children coming from
schools, streets, shelter home etc. School teachers, urban and
rural stakeholders were also a part of this programme.
CHILDLINE team briefly explained the audience about
CHILDLINE’s roles and responsibilities, its role in rescue,
protection, care and restoration. For the best interests
of the children, the team requested everyone to inform
CHILDLINE about any vulnerable or distress situation on the
1098 toll-free number. They assured that the CHILDLINE
team will reach the spot within an hour and extend the best
possible help to the child in distress.

DALSA, City Magistrate Mr. A.R. Tondon, Mrs. Kiran Singh, DPO

Cultural and sports activities were organized in government
primary school, Imlibhatta, Bilaspur where the programme
ended with a cake cutting ceremony. Also with an aim to motivate
the girls towards their dreams, ‘Dream Campaign’ 2018 was
organized for Government Girls Home. In this campaign, guest
lecturer from social works department of Central University,
Bilaspur was invited and as a token, posters of Ms. Mary Kom,
Ms. Kalpana Chawla and Ms. Manushi Chillar were distributed.
Showcasing the importance of good, complete and nutritional
food for the children, ‘Suposhan Mela’ 2018 was organized in
primary school of Saida, Bilaspur.

Bokaro
CHILDLINE Bokaro team initiated the CHILDLINE Se Dosti
week programme in the court area of Bokaro. It was an aim
to make people aware on CHILDLINE 1098 service and thus,
pamphlets were distributed to the people present there.
The team visited local thanas along with the children of
local schools and tied Dosti band to the police officers. The
children were taken for a visit to police line Bokaro to create
a friendly environment with the police officials.

CHILDLINE Bokaro team and the children were amicably
welcomed by Deputy Mayor, S.P and S.D.P.O. Various other
activities such as painting competition and signature

children in various local schools were also given an
opportunity to meet the Land Revenue and Sports Minister
- Mr. Amar Kumar Bauri (Jharkhand) and they shared some
joyful moments with the minister. Thus, the week long
programme concluded successfully.

CHILDLINE Se Dosti programme was initiated by the
CHILDLINE Koderma team by making the school children
tie dosti band to the police officers of local police stations.
Dosti band was also tied to the SP of the district, CWC
members, DCPU, Telaiya GRP, RPF, Koderma railway station.
All the stakeholders took an oath for the safety and security
of children. Issues like child labour, child marriage, drug
addiction and child rights were also discussed elaborately
with all of them. The team concluded the programme by
visiting the labour department and tying dosti band to the
Labour Superintendent and other staff of the labour office.
Simultaneously, they also created awareness on CHILDLINE
1098 service.

CHILDLINE Palamu team conducted quiz programme,
painting and singing competition with the students. The
message in the CHILDLINE pamphlet (written in Hindi)
was translated to Urdu by the teachers for the better
understanding of the students. After that the team visited
CWC and DCPU and tied Dosti band to them. The team
also visited local high schools where they organized quiz
programme, painting and singing competition with the
students. The following day, the team conducted cycle rally,
painting and singing programme with the local children and
visited the ward members to tie dosti band to them.

The team then also visited the RPF and GRP of Daltongunj
railway station and dosti band was tied to the Railway police
officers. They promised to support CHILDLINE as and when
required. The team ended the week long programme by
tying dosti band to SHG and VLCPC members. In the closing
ceremony, the team interacted with the SHG and VLCPC
members and gave them information about 1098 services.
Ranchi
CHILDLINE Ranchi team initiated the programme by tying
dosti band on the hands of the Governor of Jharkhand, Ms.
Draupadi Murmu. The team also tied dosti band to the DC,
City SP, SDO, CWC members and the Director of RINPAS.
The team then visited various police stations under their
operational area and tied dosti band to the officials in
charge of the police station. CHILDLINE Ranchi railway
team visited various staff of GRP and RPF not only in Ranchi
station but also in Muri and Tori stations and tied dosti band
to them as well. The team concluded the programme by
organizing various cultural programmes with the children
of the Premashraya Shelter Home in Ranchi.

CHILDLINE Shillong team kick started the CHILDLINE Se
Dosti campaign with an awareness programme which
was conducted at the Syiem Mylliem Police Station on
7th November 2018. Many shop keepers attended the
programme in which in-depth awareness on POCSO Act
2012 was delivered by the centre coordinator of CHILDLINE.
CHILDLINE facilitated a CHILDLINE Se Dosti Campaign with a
discussion on “Child Safety” in the local language (Khasi) at
the All India Radio, Shillong on 14th November 2018. Apart
from CHILDLINE Shillong team, the other participants of the
programme were district child protection officer, East Khasi
Hills and Sub Inspector, Child Welfare Police Officer of Mawlai
police station, Shillong. The radio discussion penetrated
to remote areas of Khasi and Jaintia Hills, thereby creating
awareness on child safety and introduced CHILDLINE
Shillong team as their new dost. Banners were put up in the
market place for awareness purposes. To invite more people
to become CHILDLINE Dost, a street play cum awareness on
child sexual abuse was organized by CHILDLINE Shillong
team in collaboration with Martin Luther Christian University,
Shillong on 16th November 2018 at Iew Mawngap (Market).

distributed and light refreshments were served to all those

Aizawl
CHILDLINE Aizawl team conducted different programmes for
CHILDLINE Se Dosti week during 14th to 21st November 2018.
Throughout the week, awareness programmes were conducted
in different government primary and secondary schools. The
parents and the children were informed about CHILDLINE 1098
and its services and all the children were willing to be friends
with CHILDLINE. Children’s Day celebration was organized by
Mizoram State Child Protection Society along with CHILDLINE
at Aizawl city park. During the programme, CHILDLINE Aizawl
team distributed the CHILDLINE friendship band to the
participants who were willing to cope with the team.
The parents were curious to know how CHILDLINE handled
different child abuse cases and CHILDLINE told them about
the functioning of Child Welfare Committee as well. Poster
campaign was organised by CHILDLINE team at different
places including the railway station, police stations and
government hospitals. The team screened the film “Komal”
for the children and created awareness about good touch
and bad touch.

Kohima
On 14th November, the interview of the CHILDLINE Kohima
team was broadcast on Doordarshan Kohima to create a mass
awareness about CHILDLINE 1098. The team also circulated
CHILDLINE 1098 message and services through social media
platforms like Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram.
CHILDLINE Kohima team set up a child friendly and healing
environment at paediatrics ward, Naga Hospital Authority
Kohima by decorating its interiors with child friendly wall
pictures and hoardings. The team along with the Head of
Matron (NHAK) took the CHILDLINE Se Dosti pledge followed
by tying of suraksha bandhan band.
CHILDLINE Kohima team along with volunteers and well-
wishers visited police station, where the team put up the
CHILDLINE message hoardings, took the dosti pledge with
the SDPO, officers in-charge, special juvenile police unit,
followed by suraksha bandhan tied to their wrists as a
symbolic action of their commitment to CHILDLINE and to
protect children. The campaign concluded with awareness
programmes in different institutions. Its aim was to sensitize
the participants about the toll-free phone helpline no. 1098
and also to invite them to be a ‘CHILDLINE Dost’ by calling
1098 whenever they see a child in distress.

Kailasahar
On 10th November 2018, CHILDLINE Se Dosti week was
inaugurated by CHILDLINE Tripura team. During the entire
week, cultural activities and competitions such as art,
dance, song and recitation etc. were conducted. Children
were given information about CHILDLINE 1098 and its
functioning. A skit on ‘Child Labour and Child Education’
was presented by children of a local government school for
awareness of other students.
The team conducted the programme in a rural area which
was prone to issues like child labour. CHILDLINE Kailasahar
team ensured that people in the area are made aware about
consequences of child labour through this programme.
Also, to motivate the tribal children, a sports programme
was conducted which included activities like frog race,
musical chair, biscuit race etc. To address the issue of child
marriage in North Kailasahar area, a seminar was conducted
by the CHILDLINE team. The week successfully concluded
by tying suraksha bandhan band to the stakeholders.

CHILDLINE Howrah railway team inaugurated the CHILDLINE
Se Dosti week and organized a street play / nukkad natak
with a professional team of Railway Police Force (RPF). The
major aim of this programme was to spread awareness about
emergency helpline number amongst the well-wishers,
daily commuters at Howrah station and stakeholders.
Special awareness campaign was conducted to spread
information on ‘Right to Survival’ amongst the children.
They were told that according to the Government of India,
a child’s life begins after twenty days of conception. Hence
the right to survival is inclusive of the child rights to be born,
right to minimum standards of food, shelter and clothing
and the right to live with dignity.
CHILDLINE Howrah railway team commenced an art
exhibition at Howrah station. This exhibition was conducted
for child rights on 14th November 2018 for a week (till 20th
November) near ‘Boro Ghori’. It was approached by children,

police station covering various places on the way. During
the rally, CHILDLINE team created awareness amongst

movement addressing child issues. The entire DCPU staff
had joined the rally and helped putting stickers at various
places in the village. The major objective of the rally was
to create awareness about CHILDLINE in Chhota Udepur
district and increase visibility of CHILDLINE 1098 services
in the district.

point indicated by the dice. On each box where the dice fell,
the issue was explained to the children. Through this game,
children were made aware of various risk areas such as child
abuse, child labor, health and hygiene.

CHILDLINE Indore team celebrated CHILDLINE Se Dosti
week with a number of programmes on the schedule.

in a very organized manner. The film ‘Komal’ based on child
abuse was screened for the children with an aim of creating
awareness amongst the children about good touch and bad
touch, child trafficking etc. Various awareness sessions were
conducted for sharing detailed information about four major
rights namely right to live, right to development, right to
protection and right to participation. Children also enjoyed
the dance competition, drawing competition, musical chair
competition etc.
The programme was concluded with the prize distribution to
the winners and certificates to all the children participating
in the event. Each child was given a school bag along with a
personal hygiene kit and winter jackets.

On 14th November 2018, CHILDLINE Kannur team
inaugurated the CHILDLINE Se Dosti week. It was conducted
in collaboration with the different stakeholders of the
district at Kannur police ground. Tremendous support was
received from Child Rights Commission, Shishu Kshema
Samithi, CWC, DCPU, Police, Excise, Education and DLSA.
CHILDLINE Se Dosti campaign celebrations started from
10th November 2018, with launch of cycle rally from
government children’s home to Town police station,
Kozhikode in association with team Malabar riders. CWC
chairman flagged off the function and the cycle rally started
from Free Birds open shelter home and finished at the
Town police station. In the valediction function, Town Circle
Inspector, Mr. Umesh addressed the audience about the
importance of child protection.
The CHILDLINE Se Dosti one week campaign aimed at
creating awareness amongst the ordinary citizens and
stakeholders about CHILDLINE and its services. As a part
of the campaign, the CHILDLINE Ernakulam railway team
and DCPU (District Child Protection Unit) conducted a flash
mob in association with the college students at Ernakulum
South station. It emphasized the need and importance of
CHILDLINE services throughout the railways. In addition,
the team organized a ‘Chakyarkooth’ during the peak hours
on Platform no. 1 of the station.
The DCPU took a great initiative by conducting a quiz
competition among railway passengers. It made a great
impact amongst the audience. The CHILDLINE team and
DCPU team conducted a child friendly trip in ‘Memu’ from
Ernakulam to Thrissur. The journey was flagged off by
Mr. Shyam, Deputy Station Master and Fr. Paul Cherupilly
delivered the presidential address. Throughout the
journey, the CHILDLINE Ernakulam team members provided
brochures and promoted awareness sessions about railway
CHILDLINE services to the passengers of each station.

team organized a selfie campaign on Kozhikode railway
station as a part of CHILDLINE Se Dosti programme. The
programme was inaugurated by Dr. Valsala, Sr. Medical
officer, Kozhikode railway station in the presence of
Honourable Mayor, Shri. Thoottathil Ravindhran. This
Child Rights week observance at district level programme was organized keeping in mind the influence
of selfies in the modern society. It was considered to be an
Kasaragod effective model to spread awareness in the society.

The programme was officially inaugurated by Mrs. Sreela
Menon, Member Child Rights Commission and concluded on
22nd November 2018. The CHILDLINE poster was released
by Honourable Sub Judge Philip Thomas by handing it over to
CHILDLINE Kasaragod team.

On 14th November 2018, CHILDLINE Trivandrum team
associated with District Legal Services Authority for
organizing Children’s Day and CHILDLINE Se Dosti campaign
at Vidyasadan Central School, Mariyanadu. The programme
was inaugurated by Shri. Dr. MP Antony, member Kerala
state commission for protection of child rights. Shri. Siju
Shaik, Sub-judge and secretary DLSA delivered children’s
message and released dosti poster on the occasion. On this
occasion, children tied dosti band to eminent personalities
who had gathered for the function. CHILDLINE Trivandrum
team created a pink campaign, where the boys painted
pink color girl child picture and handed it over to all girl
participants as a symbol of love and care.

Bengaluru
On 13th November 2018, a press meet was organized by
CHILDLINE Bengaluru team on the occasion of CHILDLINE
Se Dosti week programme at Chamarajpete, Bengaluru.
Addressing the media persons, CHILDLINE team spoke
about the roles, functions and services of CHILDLINE 1098.
CHILDLINE team provided a bird’s eye view of the upcoming
programmes of CHILDLINE Se Dosti week. CHILDLINE
Bengaluru team pointed out the increasing number of child
marriages at Bengaluru.
The Hindu, Indian Express, Udayavani, Deccan Herald and
Vijayavani were present for the programme.

CHILDLINE Hubli team organized a fun-filled day for
the children where they were made to participate in
activities such as drawing competition, essay competition
on child rights, laws and acts. Mr. Shalam Husen, PSI/
GRP inaugurated this programme along with school

CHILDLINE Hubli team gave information about drug abuse
and explained it as a patterned use of a drug which raises
health and safety concerns on its frequent usage. The
audience was given awareness about the child helpline
number 1098 and how it can be used to support and protect
the children. Various competitions were conducted such
as drawing, essay writing, musical chair etc. Three winners
were selected and prizes were distributed to them by Mr.
Shalam Husen, PSI/GRP. Certificates were also distributed
to the other participants. CHILDLINE Hubli team extended
heartfelt gratitude to the Principal of the Lamington High
School for her enhanced support during the day.

CHILDLINE Haveri team organized the awareness programme
on child marriage and corporal punishment or physical
abuse at Medleri village, Ranebennuru Taluk, Haveri District.

A large jatha programme was held on the main streets of the
village about child marriage which depicted the problems
faced by the children married at an early age. More than
200 members attended the awareness programme in Maruti
community hall, Medleri.
Shri. S.H. Majeed, Chairman of Child Welfare Committee -
Haveri talked about child marriage problems to the families
whose children get married before 18 years. He voiced
out that in such marriages, parents are the culprits and not
children. He explained that the law has changed for parents
and for the visitors of marriage. This law was to stop child
marriages in future days and was very useful to everyone.
Mr. Shridhar, Block Education officer said at the event,
“Children should not miss the school and government will
implement many projects for children’s education, so that
all the children receive education.” Shri. Dilleppa Annera,
member of the Gram Panchayat said that it was a very good
programme for villagers. It was an honour for the villagers
that CHILDLINE was creating awareness about such issues.

On the occasion, Shri Mahesh Poddar, Deputy Director Social
Welfare Officer, children from Shri Pawad Basaveshwar school,
CHILDLINE Vijayapur team members and MSW students
from Rani Channamma University were also present. Sports
competition (coin counting, jumping, pair running) for special
and needy children was conducted in Samanvaya Shale. An
essay competition on JJ Act rules and laws was also conducted
and prizes were distributed to the winners. The programme was
arranged in Nammuru Namma Makkala Dhama at Padaganur
village at Devarhippargi Taluka.

On 19th November 2018, CHILDLINE Se Dosti programme
was conducted for children in Thandarampet special school.
Many games were conducted for children and a cake was
cut on Children’s Day. Children were very happy and they
enjoyed the sports games. CHILDLINE Tiruvannamalai
team selected the first, second and third prize groups
and distributed prizes to children. Meanwhile, mentally
challenged children were also very happy and they collected
their prizes along with their parents.

The CHILDLINE Se Dosti 2018 programme was inaugurated
with the press meet and multi stakeholders consultation

CHILDLINE Chennai Railway Team
CHILDLINE Se Dosti week was inaugurated by Station
Manager, Chennai Central railway station on November 14th
and it was followed by suraksha band tying by the children
to railway staff. CHILDLINE Chennai team created awareness
among public regarding child help desk functioning and the
process of reporting of the children who were left alone at

Commissioner was interested to know more about CHILDLINE
activities and encouraged the volunteers.
On 20th November 2018, Balloon mela was organized at
Suburayan government school, Aminjikarai. The guests of
this event included Headmaster of the school, Director of
ICCW and staff of CHILDLINE Chennai team. Students of the
school actively participated in the event. A balloon rally was
conducted near the school campus and children thoroughly
enjoyed it. More than 400 students participated in the event
and flew balloons in the air.
