My journey has been a road of bumps and curves yet created a meaningful experience.
People have known me as a responsible, outgoing, and busy person since I was little. These
qualities enable me to broaden my perspective as I engage with the realm of life. As I can

remember, I have always desired to work as a public servant and an educator. Responsibilities
continued as I entered in high school. I held positions as the vice president of the Student
Supreme Council, the assistant editor-in-chief of the school newspaper, and the president of the
Integrated Young Artist Club. Additionally, I participated in the Students Volunteer
Organization. I believed that all of these were made for a purpose.
As my journey went on, many opportunities knocked on my door. I've had the
opportunity to work with Santiago City's local government unit and provide vital services like
tree planting and clean-and-green programs, manage numerous socio-cultural events in the city,
and lead social awareness campaigns for youth. On top of this, I was able to join the council in
2018 as the barangay treasurer with the help of our Punong Barangay. As I serve my
constituents, I have the confidence to perform at my highest level anytime I am able to attend to
their needs, develop new projects, and manage finances. I am able to accomplish everything
because of the good working relationship we share as a community working toward a similar
objective.
The opportunities described above are only a pit stop on my path. I'm now working
toward a bachelor's degree in physical education at the University of La Salette. I'm determined
about finishing the degree I started but never finished. Even though I work two jobs at the time, I
make sure I don't take my education for granted. I actually made the Dean's List as well.
I have a lot of hope for the future and believe I can improve the community with the
opportunity the government will give me. My values are upheld by your organization. Like your
organization does, I want to devote the rest of my life to helping communities. To reach my
objectives, I'm hoping your business will help me fulfill my dream.
Life comes both with opportunities and challenges. We experience positive and negative.
We feel sad and happy. Simply, we have to be flexible to respond to life changes. We, the
Santiagueño Youth, are important because we stand for the future of the community. Although
we are currently the city's partners, tomorrow we will be its leaders. Young people in Santiago
are very spirited and enthusiastic. We have the capacity to learn new skills and adapt to our
environment. In a same vein, we are open to learning and applying it to further our objectives.
Moreover, Santiagueño youth can help society progress and undergo social reform. Every
person is essential to be able to survive. Additionally, the City needs the involvement of the
youth to accomplish its objectives and advance the city.
As time goes by, we realize that the development of every city involves the active
engagement of young people. No matter what industry we wish to advance in—be it the
technical sector or the sporting sector—youth is required. We must decide how to assist the city
in carrying out this duty innovatively and effectively. In order to make a change, empowering the
role of the youth in building a nation full of hope, progress and success. Many should act as one-
we must be united.

Trees highly contribute to a clean environment as they improve air quality through the
process of photosynthesis – producing oxygen and taking in carbon dioxide. It also filters air
intercepting unhealthy particles by removing dusts and absorbing pollutants like carbon
monoxide, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide and letting the rain wash them after.

It also helps in climate

amelioration by mitigating
the effects of the sun, rain
and wind as the leaves
absorb and filter the sun’s
radiant energy, acting as a
shield from the falling rain
and preserve warmth by
screening off the harsh wind.

The roots of trees hold the

soil in place as it fights
erosion that causes landslide.
It also absorbs and store
rainwater that helps reduce
runoff and sediment deposit
after the storms. It also helps
recharge ground water
supply, prevents transport of
chemicals into streams as
well as prevents flooding. Its
fruits provide food while its
fallen leaves also make good
compost and improve the
quality of soil.

Our environment needs humans’ tender loving care and we can do so by engaging in
environmental activities that also improve our quality of living such as tree planting. A total of
50 Mahagony Trees were planted along the Ganano River.

Trees have lots of benefits and tree growing is an essential way countries across the globe are
doing to avert the harsh impacts of climate change. We have seen the damage it wrought upon us
in the form of super typhoons, monsoon rains, landslides, and erratic weather conditions.

Propaganda, misinformation and fake

news have the potential to polarise
public opinion, to promote violent
extremism and hate speech and,
ultimately, to undermine democracies
and reduce trust in the democratic
processes.

This activity envisions and aspires to help the

youth of Barangay Patul to spot difference
between legit and fake news. This also will help
them to be an advocate fighting fake news and
misinformation. The project was conducted on
March 24, 2022 at Barangay Hall, Patul,
Santiago City.

In a number of countries, the population census plays a major role in the

allocation of elected political seats in government. The number of elected officials
for each governmental administrative unit is determined by the population size of
a given locale. For some countries, the information is also used in the allocation
of government resources. The size of the population determines, in part, the
amount of money that is provided by government for development efforts.
For planners, census information is used in just about all planning decisions. The
census of population provides information on the age and sex distribution, in
addition to household composition and size, all of which are vital in determining
the needs of different segments of the population. The census of housing allows
planners to assess changes in the quality of housing and related facilities and
plan for future housing needs. Table 4-1 provides possible planning-related uses
for population and housing data.

Table 4-1: Possible Uses of Census Information

Census Information Potential Uses

Total Population Size When two or more census counts

are compared for the same
location, planners can determine if
locales are increasing or
decreasing in size.

Age and Sex Used to help identify segments of

the population that require different
types of services.

Sex Sex ratios can be calculated by 5-

year age groups to crudely observe
migration, especially among the
working age cohorts.

Marital Status Used to provide insights into family

formation and housing needs.

Household Composition and Used to help determine housing

“We're just really fighting for equality. What

we want is equality — protection of our
rights, assurance na we would be able to
exercise our rights, our rights na we have
because we are human, because we are
Filipinos. We just need the protection from
the law that we can actually exercise these
rights and that we will be protected from
discrimination. Ang dami nang kinuha ng
discrimination from us na opportunities —
our childhood, our dreams, our youth, our
time in this advocacy, in this activism.”

Despite significant strides in the advancement of gender equality in the Philippines, little
progress has been made in recognizing the rights of persons of diverse sexual orientation,
gePnder identity, and expression (SOGIE) to be protected from various forms of discrimination
in private and public institutions. The absence of a protective legal mechanism for persons of
diverse SOGIE leaves them vulnerable to discriminatory practices that exclude them from full
and meaningful participation in work, education, and training institutions and which limit their
access to basic services (e.g., health and social services, access to justice). Discrimination
experienced by persons of diverse SOGIE include stereotyping and more extreme forms of
stigma such as unfair treatment and outright rejection. In 2015, a nightclub in Taguig City
refused entry to some transwomen due to its “No Crossdressers Allowed Policy”. One of them
presented their California State ID which indicated their female name and gender marker but was
still turned away by security personnel who said “Lalaki pa rin ‘yan”, (He’s still a man).
