Dapiton The Entrepreneurial Mind

BSBA 2.1 A 05 eLMS Review 1

What entrepreneurial habits did Harish Hande exhibit in

handling SELCO? If you were in Hande’s position, would you
do the same? Why or why not?

The founder of SELCO was Harish Hande and the mission of this SELCO is to

especially poor people in India by

help a lot of people to have a quality life
providing a solar electricity for lights and power. There are a lot of
Entrepreneurial habits that we can see on Harish Hande when it comes in
handling SELCO.

First, Harish Hande's entrepreneurial habit was to 'focus on the causes, not
the effects, of confidence and success.' Harish Hande also assists 100,000
households in India, making him one of the top social entrepreneurs in
India. Maybe he made a lot of money because of his intentions to help his
countrymen, but I think what is truly essential for him is to provide a great
living for India's poor people by giving solar electric lighting. Harish Hande
focused on the causes rather than his personal accomplishment.
As a result, although Harish Hande almost failed in his mission to help poor
people, he took his failure well, he tends to focus on the factors that
contribute to success, and perhaps he is more focused on the success of
helping poor people in his community and he is certain that his company
will fulfill the objective he set for it.

"Business's success has not always been smooth," this is true because
there will be ups and downs that an entrepreneur will have to face, just like
Harish Hande and his SELCO's success, he faced many challenges but did
not give up and ignore his mission to help poor people instead he turned
those challenges into his assets by continuing to help them regardless of
the financial cost to his company. Harish Hande was also a curious being, as
everyone who wants to better their community would be curious about
anything and willing to get the information that will enable them to do so.

If I were in Harish Hander's shoes, I would act in a same manner since one
of my aims is to assist others, especially the needy. I firmly think that giving
to others increases our wealth and prosperity. Since Harish Hander has
excellent intentions towards the poor, this has helped in his success as an
entrepreneur. What you do determines what you get, just as God said,
"What you sow is what you reap." Harish Hande did his best to accomplish
his mission which helping his Indian countrymen and with his hardwork and
determination, he accomplished his mission.
