1. AC Design Criteria

Outside Design Conditions

Project Location Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Latitude 25.2 ° North Latitude
Longitude 55.2 °
Elevation 16 m above mean sea level

For design and sizing of air conditioning equipment the following outside design conditions
will be adopted:

Summer: External 46.0° C dry bulb / 29.0° C wet bulb

Daily Range 13.8° C dry bulb

Winter: External 12.2° C dry bulb

No internal space heating system is considered for this project.

1.2 Concept Proposal

1.2.1 Air Conditioning System

The proposed system will be VRV system with refrigeration gas R-410a. The VRV units
are in the MEP room in the basement floor and will serve all floors with AC refrigeration
piping to the indoor ducted units by heat exchanging when return air will curry the cold air
to every zone through AC Ducts running above false ceiling.

The strategy of AC cooling for the Villa will be based on the supplying cold air through
grills/slots located in the false ceiling and collecting the Return air through similar return
grills.

The VRV ducted indoor units are located above the false ceiling. The back side of all
indoor units will be equipped with 500 mm plenum box with fresh air intake controlled by
VCD.

The VRV outdoor units will be top discharge. The outdoor units should be located at the
concrete plinth with vibration isolator and will be with low noise
VRV SYSTEM
1.2.2 Ventilation System
Fresh Air Ventilation

The proposed fresh air strategy is to provide the fresh air to VRV’s indoor ducted units as
per demand. This air will be provided for each indoor unit through insulated duct (into
mixing box) from ground/basement floor level through FA. louvers equipped with
aluminum washable filter and VCD. which will pass fresh air from the beside yard.
The duct branch size will be calculated according to the CFM required for each indoor
unit. The fresh air calculations will be calculated according to the latest version of
ASHRAE 62.1.

Toilet and Pantry Extract

The proposed extract strategy for all toilets and kitchen will be a mechanical ventilation.
Centralized in-line ducted ceiling concealed exhaust fan, will be provided to extract the
waste air from all bathrooms. Also, kitchen will have a separate similar exhaust fan in
addition with make-up fan for hood.
The exhaust air will be discharged outside the toilets and kitchen through disc valves
connected to the ducts from ground and basement floors to the basement level (beside
yards on both sides) through exhaust air louvers. These louvers shall be away from fresh
air intakes.
Similar concept for the upper floors, but bathrooms in the first floor will extract to the lower
roof level as a roof flush louver located below the upper roof mass, that louver will be
flush with the finishing floor level, with water stopper protection, in a similar way the
bathrooms in the roof floor will extract to the top roof level.
Ducts sizes will be calculated according to the CFM required for kitchen and bathrooms.
The exhaust air calculations will be calculated in respect with ASHRAE 62.1.

NRD (None return damper), will provided in the duct line in case of combined ducts,
collecting from variable zones.
