SYLLABUS

Course Description : The course is aimed at providing students with knowledge, attitudes and skills (KAS) which are necessary
for enhancing their socio-civic consciousness and developing the spirit of volunteerism. It will expose them
to activities designed to achieve basic understanding of how NSTP can contribute to the goal of improving and
developing impoverished communities in the fields of health, education, entrepreneurship, social welfare services,
and specifically in the care and protection of the environment. It will also focus on values and the
cultural rootedness of the Filipinos as they respond to problems and issues affecting families and communities.
An organized Community Exposure Program will be conducted to enrich the students’ classroom activities.

It will be credited for three (3) units with fifty four (54) training hours.

Pre-Requisite : None

General Objectives : At the end of the semester, given a conducive atmosphere for learning, the students will be able to:

1. discuss the goals, objectives, value orientation, principles, programs and activities of the National Service
Training Program
2. adopt the culture-based approach in analyzing the current economic, socio-cultural, and political problems
which are affecting the country
3. articulate the role of the youth in responding to these problems towards the development of their sense of
nationalism
4. demonstrate their appreciation on the values of volunteerism and social responsibility as they get exposed to
community service
