WHAT IS ENVIRONMENT?

ENVIRONMENT
The environment encompasses the physical, biological,
and social conditions that surround and interact with living
organisms. It includes natural resources such as air, water,
land, plants, and animals, as well as human-made or built
environments such as cities, towns, and infrastructure.

The environment plays a critical role in supporting all living

beings by providing essential resources like air, water,
food, and shelter necessary for survival. Additionally, it
regulates the climate, impacting temperature and weather
patterns, and supports biodiversity by offering habitats to
diverse flora and fauna crucial for ecological balance.
Furthermore, the environment provides significant
economic benefits such as tourism, fishing, and
agriculture, contributing to the growth of the economy

To protect natural resources, Filipinos
can adopt SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES that
includes reforestation, reducing waste
and pollution, promoting renewable
energy, and practicing responsible
tourism. Additionally, government
policies and enforcement can play a
crucial role in protecting natural
resources.

REDUCTIONISM: PROS
One partial solution could be to
establish more protected areas and
wildlife sanctuaries. This can help
preserve natural habitats and
ecosystems and promote biodiversity.

REDUCTIONISM: CONS
The downside of this solution is that it
may not address other environmental
issues such as pollution and climate
change. Moreover, it may limit
economic activities and development in
certain areas.

CONCLUSION H O L I S M A N D R E D U C T I O N I S M
To effectively protect natural resources in the

Philippines, a holistic approach that combines

sustainable practices, government policies, and

community engagement is necessary. While establishing

protected areas can be beneficial, it should be

complemented by other solutions that address other

environmental issues. Additionally, it is important to

address social and economic factors that contribute to

environmental degradation, such as poverty and lack of

education.
