I.OBJECTIVES
A. Content standards The learners demonstrate an understanding of the relation of
geographical location of the Philippines to its environment.
B. Performances Standards The learners shall be able to analyze the advantage of the
location of the Philippines in the relation of the Philippines in
relation to the climate, weather, and seasons.
C. Learning Competencies Recognize that soil, coal, other fossil fuels are Earth material
that people use as resources.
Specific objectives 1. Locate and identify the metallic minerals found in
Philippine map.
2. Describe the place where metallic minerals are
located.
3. Enumerate uses of metallic minerals.
II. CONTENT Where are the mineral deposits in the Philippines?
III. LEARNING RESOURCES
A. Module Science 7, 291-293
B. Other learning resources
C. Materials Power point presentation, video clip, and maps of the
metallic deposits, trenches and faults, and volcanoes in the
Philippines
D. Integrated Values Cooperation, participation
E. 21st Century Skills Collaboration
IV. PROCEDURES
A. BEFORE THE LESSON
ELICIT Let the students enumerate the factors that act together on
rocks to form soil.
Ask them also to briefly explain soil formation.
ENGAGE Present lesson objectives
Show to the students a video clip on mining b and minerals in
the Philippines.
Ask the following Questions:
1. What is the video all about?
2. How do you describe minerals?
3. Do we have metallic minerals in Camarines Sur?

B. DURING THE LESSON

EXPLORE Explain the to the class the procedure of the activity
Let the students perform activity 5: “Where are the metallic
mineral deposit in the Philippines” on pages 291-293
EXPLAIN Ask the following to the students:
a. What are the 5 abundant metallic minerals found in
our country?
b. Where are those minerals found?
c. What geologic structures are found near the location
of metallic deposits?
 Share to them that them that Philippines is
listed as the 5th mineral country in the
world,3rd in gold reserve,4th in copper, and 5th
in nickel! The ores (mineral-bearing rocks) are
processed out of the country tp recover the
pure metal.
 Let the students explain:
 That the richness of the Philippines in
terms of minerals resources is being
attributed to its location in the so-called
Pacific Ring of Fire.
 The importance of metallic minerals
ELABORATE Ask the following:
1. Are we rich in metallic minerals? Why do you
think so?
2. Are these minerals important to us? Cite the
application of minerals.
Let the students summarize the lesson
C. AFTER THE LESSON
EVALUATE Answer the following question correctly:
1. Which of the following metallic minerals cannot be
found in Bicol?

b. Gold d. Copper
2. Almost all parts of our country have metallic minerals
deposits,, which of the following provinces does have
gold deposits?
a. Zambales c. Mindanao
b. Palawan d. Northern Sierra Madre
3. Metallic mineral can be found near
a. Mountain c. Valley
b. Volcano d. Hill
4. The richness of the Philippines in terms of metallic
minerals resources is attributed to its location in the
so called_______
a. Volcano c. Trench
b. Fault d. Pacific Ring of Fire
5. The following are uses of metallic minerals, except
a. Making jewelries
b. Making cans of milk
c. Making chalk
d. Making electrical wire
EXTEND Name the geologic features common in the areas where
metallic can be found.
