Lesson Plan in Science

(Needs and ways of caring the plants)


-NURSERY CLASS-
I. Objectives:

At the end of the lesson the pupils will be able to:

A. Tell the different needs and ways of caring the plants;


B. Identify the correct ways of caring the plants; and
C. Discuss the the importance of plants.

II. Subject Matter:

A. Topic: Needs and Ways for Caring of the Plants


B. Materials: PowerPoint presentation, pictures, handouts
C. Reference: Nursery, Lesson 7
D. Concepts: Different ways of caring the plants are; water everyday, sunlight,
fertilizer, carbon dioxide and care.
E. Values Integration: cooperation, self-esteem, appreciation, sportsmanship
F. Methodology: Inductive Method and 4A’s

III. Procedure

1. Greetings

-I will introduce the “hello! How do you do” song and let the pupils sing the song
together with an action as energizer before starting the class.

B. Motivation

- I will show a picture to the pupils and ask the following questions:
-Guided questions:

1. What have you seen in the picture?


2. Do you like or love plants? Why?
3. Do you have plants at home?
4. Do you take good care of your plants at home? How?

- What was our lesson yesterday?

D. Lesson Proper

1) Activity

- We will play the “Puzzle Picture Game”.


- I will divide the class into two groups. Group A and Group B.
- Each group will receive a puzzle picture . You will arrange the puzzle properly in
order to know or see what would be the picture in the puzzle after successfully
solving it. Once done.
- Each group will choose one representative to describe the picture.
- The group who can solve the puzzle quickly will be the winner and receive a
prize.

“Healthy / Happy plants” vs” Unhealthy / Sad plants”

- Guided questions:

1. What do you think the reason why plants grow healthy or happy?
2. How about the reason why plants grow unhealthy or sad?

2) Analysis

-Based on the activity we have played earlier, I will discuss the ways for caring
the plants. Those are the following:

 Plants need water or rain. You should water


the plants every day.

 Plants need sunlight. Sunlight helps the leaves make food for the plants.

 Plants need good soil and fertilizer in order to make them grow healthy.

 Plants need air, too. They also breathe. The air they need is called carbon
dioxide.

 Plants need care in order to make them grow healthy.


3) Abstraction

- I will present a video presentation to the pupils to fully understand the ways for
caring the plants.

4) Application

- Let’s practice !
- I will show different pictures and let the pupils identify if it’s good or bad for
the plants using the emoji provided. Use “Happy emoji” if it’s good and “Sad
emoji” if it’s bad. Afterwards, let pupils explain it why.

E. Generalization

-Ask the questions:

1. What have you learned?


2. Can you tell what are those needs and ways for caring the plants?
3. Why do plants are every important?

IV. Evaluation
- I will give handouts:

Instructions: Encircle all the things that plants need in order to grow well.

V. Assignment

Draw your favorite plant in a short bond paper. Indicate in your drawing the
needs in order the plants to grow well.
