Weather is highly variable day to day and from one year to the next

For example:

When you wake up in the morning, you see the sun or rain and that is called weather. This kind

of change is normal but when the average pattern over many years change it is now called climate

2. Climate means it refers to the average weather condition in a place over many years. The

climate in the Philippines is tropical and maritime it is characterized by relatively high

temperature, high humidity, and abundant rainfall.

Element of climate:

- Temperature – is a degree of hotness and coldness of a place.

 It measures of Thermometer.

- Humidity – is the amount of water vapor in the air.

 It measured hygrometer

- Precipitation is a water falling down from the atmosphere in the forms of rain, snow

or hail.

 It can be measured RAINE GAUGE

Weather and climate are connected to each other because weather reflect short- term condition of

the atmosphere while climate is the average daily weather for an extended period of time at a

certain location.

FACTORS AFFECTING CLIMATE

A. LATITUDE – is a distance to the north and south.

B. ALTITUDE - is a height of an area above sea level.

C. OCEAN CURRENT – is a stream of water that flows in definite path (usually loops)

That carry a warm current and cold current.

Warm current from the equator towards pole carry warm water.

Cold current- travel from the pole towards the equator carry cold water.

D. TOPOGRAPHY – refers to a natural features or arrangement of an area like Land.

Windward – the wind is blocked by the mountain forcing it to move upward as it moves

the water vapor condense and forms cloud.

Leeward - on this side. Mountain there is no cloud formation, the cold air mass start to

absorb heat and becomes warm and dry as a result the air the near the leeward side

become dry and has less precipitation. The dry region on the leeward side called a RAIN

SHADOW, vegetation in this region include dessert land and grassland.
