Learning Targets: At the end of the lesson, the students should:

1. identify the musical characteristics of music of Mindoro and Palawan;

2. analyze the musical elements of music of Mindoro and Palawan; and

3. differentiate the music of Mindoro from the music of Palawan.

A. Preliminary Activities

B. Motivation
The teacher will present jumbled letters and allow students to arrange it correctly. The students
will answer the questions after the activity.
1. What do these random letters have in common?
2. Do you have any idea of what we will discuss today?

C. Activity
The teacher will play representative songs from Mindoro and Palawan. Allow students to close
their eyes while listening to the music. Let students to answer the questions after the activity.
1. Did you enjoy the music? How?
2. What were your initial thoughts after hearing it?

D. Analysis
The teacher will present pictures and request that they indicate whether they are from Mindoro
or Palawan. Allow students to answer the questions after the activity.
1. How did you find the activity? Explain.
2. In what way do these pictures represent the places of Mindoro and Palawan?
3. What factors do you use to determine if they are from Mindoro or Palawan?

E. Abstraction
The teacher will conduct a lecture-discussion about the Music of Mindoro and Palawan and
allow the students to give the summary of the lecture-discussion afterwards. Ask students to answer
the following questions:
1. What are the geographical features of Mindoro and Palawan?
2. How are these related to their Music?

F. Application
The students will choose a song to perform with their groups and then identify the musical
features of the song afterward.
1. Why did you chose the song you sang?
2. What are the musical features of the song?

for Palawan and three examples for Mindoro.
2. How would you describe the musical elements of Mindoro and Palawan Music? Explain in 5-
8 sentences.
3. In terms of musical features and traits, what distinguishes Mindoro music from Palawan
music? State your answer in more than 10 sentences.

H. Assignment
The students will write their assignments in one whole sheet of paper and pass it next meeting.
1. In your own words, describe the vocal music of Palawan and Mindoro.
2. What are the types of singing of Mindoro and Palawan?
