Research 3 types of early learning programs and describe each of them in

paragraph form.  The paragraph should include what makes them unique and
important elements.
Montessori education has an emphasis on capable teachers, and developmentally appropriate

activities. “Every material in a Montessori classroom supports an aspect of child development,

creating a match between the child's natural interest and the available activities” (Montessori

Education, n.d.). Through a Montessori learning program, children learn at their own pace and

through their own methods. Listed below are a few examples of what is offered to children who

are enrolled in a Montessori early learning program. These examples make them unique and

important elements because children develop fine and gross motor skills while learning to gain

confidence in their abilities. A Montessori program encourages children to develop trust in

themselves and most importantly the early learning program provides “a safe, engaging and

nurturing environment for the child (Montessori Education, n.d.).”

The Waldorf program is a preschool program that has elements that revolve around the

Australian scientist Rudolf Steiner. Waldorf programs have developmentally appropriate

practices that integrate the arts for all academics and activities (WALDORF EDUCATION,

2015). teachers of a Waldorf program must be certified. A unique and important element of the

Waldorf education program is that students cultivate their own spiritual, physical, and emotional

capabilities through a curriculum that utilizes “music, dance and theater, writing, literature,

legends and myths (WALDORF EDUCATION, 2015).” This program is teacher directed and

can be taught through the 12th grade.

The third early learning program I will be discussing is the Highscope preschool curriculum.

Children enrolled in this preschool program received an education that “uses a carefully designed

approach called active participatory learning” (Zachry, 2014). The Highscope preschool

curriculum has a unique and important element of which has emphasis on adult child interaction.

When working with this student in a Highscope program, educators will act as partners and

provide communication to encourage student learning (HighScope, 2018). Assessments are also

a unique element of high scope programs. Teachers record data during a child's natural play and

use this information to assess a child's progress and plan meaningful learning experiences

(HighScope, 2018).
