The Carrot Seed

By: Ruth Krauss

One day, a little boy named Tim

planted a carrot seed in their backyard.
His mother said, “I’m afraid it won’t
come up. “His father said, “I’m afraid it
won’t come up.” His brother said, “It
won’t come up.”
But every day, Tim still watered
the ground and pulled up the weeds.
But nothing came up. And nothing
came up. Everyone said it wouldn’t
come up.
But Tim still watered the ground
and pulled out the weeds every day.
Until one day, a carrot plant came up.
Just as Tim had known it would. What
a happy day it was for him!
