QUESTION FOR REFLECTION

1. Give three other major scientific and technological

developments in the world (or in the Philippines) that created
large impact on your daily life.

The first one is the invention of internet, a major force in societal

evolution, the Internet has altered business, education, government,
healthcare, and even how we communicate with our loved ones. The
way that social communication has changed is very important. Second
is the invention of solar powered lights, these are now used as street
lights and they are very eco-friendly and energy efficient. The third one
is washing machines; this invention made our task easier for them to
complete and facilitated our domestic duties. There was a time when I
had to reserve an entire weekday for the sole purpose of doing laundry
for the family. Now no more worries about doing the laundry.

2. What historical antecedents gave rise to the inventions you

mentioned in the first questions?
The Internet was initially developed for military use before being
broadened to support scientific collaboration. The innovation was also
influenced in part by the 1960s' rising need for computers. Next is the
solar powered lights, it was invented by Charles Fritts, who is credited
with developing the first solid solar cell in 1883. The best solar panels
today can have an electrical efficiency of over 20%, but the first solar
cell had just about 1%. Lastly, Home washing machines were run by

hand until the late 1800s, while industrial washers were powered by
steam and belts. All of that changed in 1908 when the Thor, the first
industrial electric washer, was introduced.
3. How did the developments in science and technology shape
human history?
As technology advances, we remember the past of many things
and consider how amazing humanity has been throughout history. All of
today's accomplishments are based on the foresight of individuals in the
past, which resulted in a lot of discoveries and developments. Scientific
and technological developments have a growing influence on human
history as individuals build on what they have accomplished and produce
in more intelligent ways. We were able to quickly share ideas across the
country and finally the entire world thanks to it. That simply
demonstrates that humans are smarter in many ways despite beginning
with nothing more than a concept.
