Mountain Province [kabayan mummies] and etc.)

interpreting and producing crafts using characteristics of art

Call in volunteer students to come in front of the class and pick one
item inside the box or basket. Instruct them further that they will
describe the image or material that they will pick.

Orient the class that the images/ materials have something to do


with the arts topic for the day.
Activity: ART STATIONS. The teacher will prepare 4 art stations
inside the classroom (or you may choose to set up stations outside
the classroom) These stations will be labeled:

accessories, body ornaments and architectures of Ilocos,


Kalinga, Ifugao and Mountain Province in each station ( The
teacher may choose any materials for the input e.g. inputs
and images printed in bond paper, manila paper, and etc.) .

Instruct the class to proceed to their groupings. (same


groupings as day 1). All the learners will be given activity
sheets that they will answer (see attached activity sheet).
Each group will be tasked to go around the classroom to
visit the art stations. They will be given 3 minutes for each
station. As they visit the stations, they will explore and read
the material, jot down important notes and using the
activity sheet provided by the teacher, they will identify the
art forms, its characteristics, elements/principles of art used
and distinct uses. After the given time, all members of the
group will convene to share with each other the information
they gathered. They will be given 5 minutes for the sharing.
After the sharing, the teacher will collect the activity sheets.
ARTS APPRECIATION AND INTERPRETATION ACTIVITY

Using laptop, speaker and over-head projector, the teacher will


play video clips about:

a. Body Tattooing in Kalinga


b. Bul’ul Sculpture and Lingling-o in Ifugao
c. Kabayan Mummies in Mountain Province

E. Discussing new concepts and (Videos available at MAPEH 7 – Attachments – Arts Videos)

The students will be tasked to watch the videos and answer the
following questions:
a. What do you think is the reason why people in Kalinga
apply body tattoo?
b. What does bul’ul sculpture represents?
c. Why do Ifugao women wear lingling- o?
d. How is Kabayan mummies considered a National Culture
Treasure?

The teacher will post image of old houses in Vigan and Bul’ul
Sculpture and will ask the learners the following questions:
