I. OBJECTIVES

Analyze elements and principles of art in the production of


one's arts and crafts inspired by the arts of Ilocos Region
and Cordillera Administrative Region (A7EL - Ib-1)
- Identify the elements of arts used in the Inabel, kain
and saya, kadangyan burial cloth, wanes, lufid,
ginaspala wanes, and gaddang
C. Learning Competencies/  Identify characteristics of arts and crafts in Ilocos Region
Objectives and Cordillera Administrative Region e.g., Ilocos fabric
[Inabel], Kalinga Textiles [kain and saya], Mountain

MOTIVATION. Post an image of the map of Luzon on the board
(see image saved in MAPEH 7 Attachments – Arts folder), ask the
learners to locate the provinces of Ilocos Region (Ilocos Norte,
Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan) and Cordillera Administrative
Region (Kalinga, Apayao, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Abra) in the
map. After locating the areas, ask the learners to share something
about the province (e.g. famous landmarks, known delicacies and
etc.).

of the new lesson
IV. PROCEDURES

Let the students answer the Pre- Assessment on Arts LM page 146.
After answering, orient the class about the arts topic for the week.

Divide the class into four groups. Each group will be assigned with
areas in Ilocos Region and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
They will be further tasked to discuss among themselves the
characteristics of the attire, fabrics and tapestries of the assigned
area in their groups. Groupings will be as follows:

Group 1: Ilocos fabric (Inabel)

Group 3: Mountain Province [kadangyan, wanes, lufid, ginaspala

Group 4: Abra [bankudo and balwasi]

The groups will be given 10 minutes to do the activity. After the


given time, each group will present their outputs in class. Group
outputs and presentation will be rated using a holistic rubric:

Arts Appreciation and Interpretation Activity. The teacher


will post images of fabrics, textiles and tapestries from Ilocos
Region and CAR on the board.

Ask the students the following questions:

1. What are the elements of arts present in the following


textiles? How are these elements utilized in the fabric?
2. What are the materials used in weaving these fabrics?
3. How are these fabrics used by the people in Ilocos and
Cordillera?

Using a Venn Diagram, let the students determine the similarities


and differences of the following textiles based on the designs and
materials used.

Ask the students the following questions:

1. What are the distinct characteristics of the fabrics/textiles

Ilocos Region and CAR in the daily living of the people?

I. Evaluating learning Output Presentation

Art Production Activity. In one Oslo paper, task the students to


create their own fabric designs considering the characteristic of the
cloth from Ilocos Region and CAR.
