1st and 3rd quadrant

Depending up on the location of these quadrants we
have two system of projection
– First angle projection
– Third angle projection

Choice of view
• The front view is the most important and is selected first
– Front view:‐
• It is the view that shows the most about the object
• It is usually the longest view and shows the major shape of profile
• It is positioned so that the least number of hidden lines are need
One‐view drawing
• Drawing which can be expressed using one
One‐view, Two‐ view and Three‐view view only
drawing – Example:‐ spheres, cylindrical objects with their
dimension specified
2
Two‐view drawing Three‐view drawing
• Drawing which can be expressed using two • Mostly we use three‐views to represent an
views object fully
Laying out drawing Height ,width and depth
• Height is the perpendicular distance b\n horizontal plane s
• Means the space needed for the actual views • p p \ p p
Width is the perpendicular distance b\n profile planes
plus spaces for dimensions and notes • Depth is the perpendicular distance b\n frontal planes
– The right and left margins are kept equal in size • The height of the object is shown in the front and t side view
– The top and bottom margins are kept equal in size • The width of the object is shown in the front and top view
• The depth of the object is shown in the top and side view
The depth of the object is shown in the top and side view

Precedence of line(order of important)
• When obtaining multi‐views, it is common for one type of line to
over lap another type
• When this occurs, drawing conventions have established an order
When this occurs drawing conventions have established an order

• The following list gives the order of precedence
1. Object line
2. Cutting plane line
3. Hidden line
