CHAPTER 1
COMPANY PROFILE

PHOEBE GARDEN is a newly established distribution company which

provides great service of good quality bonsai plant. PHOEBE Garden target market

are the San Pedro and nearby towns such as Binan and Sta. Rosa City. The business

also accepts deliveries and special orders, like customize bonsai souvenirs for

special event such as weddings, birthdays, anniversaries.

This chapter, PHOEBE Garden discusses the content of the company profile

and explains the nature of the business that focus on selling bonsai plant and what

the business has to offer. It also explains the meaning of the business logo, tackles

the vision, mission statement, company values, company culture, and the objectives

of the business. The last part shows the capitalization needed to established the

business and the equal contribution of each members.

Business History

The proponent bought out the idea of gardening business a newly in the

gardening business and since every one of us loves plant and planting, this led to us

to implement a garden business. The proponent decided to start the business on

January 2019 all members agreed to this kind of business, furthermore all of the

members are knowledgeable in planting and customizing bonsai plant souvenirs for

all occasion.

Business Logo

The Logo of the Business is a simple green mountain with bonsai tree plant.

The green mountain symbolizes the beauty of nature and the color green means

associated with money, give good vision and it also represents our environment and

ecosystem. The shadow bonsai tree plant symbolizes elegance and solidarity. White

represents cleanliness and successful beginning. And the color of our logo also

symbolizes eco-friendly color and it also represents our bonsai tree plant product so

the first thing that come up in their mind is Peace, Harmony, Organize,

Environment, Balance, and Ecosystem this is the meaning of the logo that’s why we

called it PHOEBE

Nature of the Business

“PHOEBE GARDEN” is a newly open garden shop located at Pacita, San Pedro

City, Laguna and its nearby towns like Binan City and Sta. Rosa City. The business

started operating since October 1, 2018 in a form of partnership. The business

focuses mainly in buying and selling of good quality garden plants, indoor plants,

different variety of Bonsai plant/ bonsai tree and customized the plant souvenir for

all occasions. Laguna is fast becoming one of the top suburban choices for many

individuals and families who want a more relaxed place to live in, raise a family or

retire. Aside from having different environment and vibe the low cost of living in

this area makes it an attractive option for many that is why the business target

market are the individual and family homes within Laguna. PHOEBE GARDEN aims

not only to help in the interior beautification of family home but the business also

wish a good health and wellness for our customers and it is common knowledge

that indoor plants especially bonsai can clean and help purity the air in your home,

it has health benefits too, like it can be a great stress reliever, it can help fight

fatigue and it can even help get over your cough cold and sore throats. PHOEBE

GARDEN is open during 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and we can deliver the bonsai direct to

our customer’s door step within Laguna area free of charge upon customer’s

request.

Vision

Our vision is not only to give a family home sophisticated style of tree plant

displays but simple and elegant ambiance, also envision a good health and wellness

for our customers.

Mission

Mission is to educate the customer for the beauty of garden by cleanly better

environment and house beautification. By providing new trend of bonsai planting in

urban area.

Company Values

The guiding rule of a company is the company values. It is the identity of a

business or how the company should behave. It is important to a business to

uphold these values because it will make them conscious of correct and acceptable

practices.

Cincotta (2015) defined values as fundamental beliefs of an organization, the

guiding principles that dictate how people should behave and act. A company’s

values help people know the difference between right and wrong, and help

companies to determine if they are on the right path in fulfilling their business

goals.

In other words, company values are one of the most important things of the

company; it is partly the reason why customers choose the company. That’s why

PHOEBE GARDEN believes that creating values make the company become more

progressive.

PHOEBE GARDEN subscribe to five values. First is Unity, because we work as

a team. Each every one of us has a right to give ideas, thoughts and suggestion to

develop our company. Second is Responsibility. The proponents are responsible in

taking care of the products. Third is Patience. Because this is not easy to manage,

this is not familiar to the millennial. So we have to need more patience. Fourth is

Transparency. We have great value associated with the honesty, exposure and even

vulnerability that results from an attitude, person or product that is 100%

transparent. The fifth is reasonable Risk taker. Because we are willing to do things

that involve danger or risk in order to achieve goal.

Company Culture

A company’s culture is defined as the distinctive personality of the

organization. It reflects overall attitudes of the company, how employees act, how

energetically they contribute to teamwork, problem solving, innovation, customer

service, productivity and quality. In essence, a company’s culture conveys everything

that makes up the organization and how all of the parts work together to fulfill the

needs of employees and clients.

It is well-documented that a company with well-defined culture has a

competitive advantage and usually outperforms competitors because the

employees of these companies are more engaged and more enthusiastic about

their work. (Brooks, YEAR).

In other words company cultures are vital and important for company’s

success. That’s why PHOEBE GARDEN ensures a fair and balance relationship

between management and employees and vice versa in their everyday operation.

The management, employee should work together to fulfill the needs of both

parties because it will lead to a company’s main objective of meeting the needs of

the client and eventually will ensure company’s main goal of success.

Company Main Objectives

The main objectives of the company are: (1) to maintain our product. (2)

provide a healthy product, our bonsai tree product is a good stress reliever and it

can help get over your cough, cold and sore throats. (3) provide work for others our

company want to help the community by giving others an opportunity for

livelihood and (4) to increase the company’s profitability and to become successful.

Short Term Objectives

 Developing a comprehensive marketing and public relation

strategy

 Keep a reasonable and competitive price of the product

by knowing our customers well like how much they can

afford and willing to pay, constantly monitoring

our competitors pricing and lowering our operating cost.

 Remain committed to a quality service by on time Delivery; and

 Expand the marketing and advertising to create product

awareness through social media and innovative forms of

advertisement.

Long Term Objectives

 Maintaining customer relationship for continues patronization of services and

product by giving them good services and providing good quality of products;

 To build more branches in Laguna in the next 2 years in near cities;

 To be lined up with the popular distributors of bonsai tree; and

 To become one of the best and leading supplies of the bonsai three for the next

5years in Laguna in near cities.

Product Description and other Services

Bonsai Tree is a small miniature tree. It is artistically and creatively designed

by depending to the desired figure and shape of the plant. Bonsai is usually put

indoor and outdoor as decoration of house, offices and other establishments.

Making bonsai tree plant is an easy process, we do only have to use creativity arts,

patience to create your desired shape and figure. Having bonsai at home create a

good aura/ambiance and at good atmosphere. As what other people say, that

bonsai tree plant brings good luck and charm. PHOEBE Garden accept limited and

bulk order of bonsai and other plants. Supply the needs of the target market and

also accept customize for occasions.

Capitalization Requirements

Capitalization requirements are computed composed of three basic

structures. First, the inventory cost requirement, Second, the set-up cost and the

Third, is the operating cost. The total computed capital requirements will be funded

equally by the partners. See below breakdown.

The capitalization of each member is ₱30,000.00 based on the capitalization

requirements. Jenine May Monteiro, Justin Disonglo, Danielle Anne Gadian, Glydel

Ann Mutia, Arlyn Camus and Clyde Edrei Gocutano the money they will share are

from their work because they are working student. Figure 1.2 presents the equal

distribution of capitalization requirements of the business.

Inventory Cost

Inventory cost is computed based on stocks needed for a 1 month operation.

It shows the materials needed for customizing bouquets and bonsai plant combine.

Details can be read in the financial aspect. Total Inventory Cost ₱60,000.00

Set Up Cost

Set-up Cost is consist of leasehold Improvement ,Office equipment ,Office

furniture & fixtures ,SEC registration ,Baranggay Clearance ,Mayors permit ,BIR

,Books of accounts ,Official receipts and Transportation. Details can be read in the

financial aspect.

CHAPTER 2
MANAGEMENT ASPECT

In this chapter the proponent introduce the management aspect and

organizational structure of the business. It explains the management study of

PHOEBE Garden. Also this chapter tackles the recruitment and hiring process of the

business regarding of what qualification of the candidate. required by the business.

And the seminar and training program for continues growth of employees. The last

part of this chapter is the company policy that should be followed not only by the

employees but also by the owners of the business.

Management Study

The management structure determines the organization’s hierarchy, it

influences how the responsibilities and rules are assigned to each member of the

organization or company. The leader of the democratic style of leadership shares

the decision making with his or her leadership team and open for the suggestion

and opinions of his member in the organization. This is one of the most effective

kinds of leadership because when the employees feel that they are part of the

organization they will feel more secure and contented and they will give their best

to their work that is assigned to them.

Cherry(2018),Democratic leadership, also known as participative leadership or

shared leadership, is a type of leadership style in which members of the group take

a more participative role in the decision-making process. This type of leadership can

apply to any organization, from private businesses to schools to government.

Everyone is given the opportunity to participate, ideas are exchanged freely,

and discussion is encouraged. While the democratic process tends to focus on

group equality and the free flow of ideas, the leader of the group is still there to

offer guidance and control. The democratic leader is charged with deciding who is

in the group and who gets to contribute to the decisions that are made.

In other words democratic leadership style is an effective kind of leadership.

The manager is open to other opinions and welcomes their contribution into the

decision making process. Everyone has the opportunity to contribute ideas to the

decision. The proponents choose this kind of management because the proponents

believe if the workers feel that their opinion counts, and because of that feeling they

are secure and contented and more committed to achieve the organization goals

and objectives.

Figure 2.2 shows the recruitment to hiring process of PHOEBE GARDEN. The

first step is online job posting to give applicants an information about job hiring

and give them an opportunity to send their resume to the company website.

Second is review and evaluation of the resume of applicants. Third is initial interview

to know the personality and ability of the applicants. Fourth is the employment test-

written oral or on the job testing to determine whether a job applicant is suitable

for the position. Then the applicant will undergo the examination and if the

applicant passes the examination the applicant proceed to the final interview and if

the applicant pass the final interview he/she will undergo to the medical test to

check and to make sure that their health is suitable for the position. If the applicant

passes the medical exam he/she must be able to complete the requirements and

after completing requirements the applicant will be deployed.

Seminars and Training Program

The training and seminar help the employees enhance their skills, capabilities

and expand their knowledge. Training process helps the employees to have quality

performance in their work. A seminar can be useful and helpful for employees.

Seminar is gatherings of the participants to engage in discussing a topic. The

attendees are to be inspired to become better employees and to apply the skills

they learned from the seminar.

Neil (2018) workplace training can be an extremely cost-effective way to

expand the skills and knowledge base of your team. Compared to the cost of

recruiting new team members, training existing staff can fill a skills gap at a fraction

of the cost. However, despite the obvious benefits, many businesses still

underestimate the importance of staff training.

Training is crucial for organization development and success. That is why

PHOEBE Garden will conduct seminars and training for the old employees and new

employees who will join the organization to help them improve their skill and

expand their knowledge so they can give their best in the organization. It is fruitful

to both employees of an organization and for the management.

The proponents will have two ways or methods of training; the on the job

training. The motto of such training is “learning by doing”. On-the-job training, also

known as OJT, is teaching the skills, knowledge, and competencies that are needed

by employees to perform a specific job within the workplace and work environment.

And the second method is off the job training methods. The employees will have to

attend seminars that will help them expand their knowledge and improved their

skills. The seminars will teach employees the day to day operation of the Garden

business. Figure 2.1 shows the action plan for seminars and training program.

Company Main Policy

A company policy is a set of principles, rules and guidelines that a company

establishes. It defines the responsibilities of both employer and employees. It also

protects the right of the employee and the employer to be fair to the both side of

the organization.

This finds support from “Policies are important in a workplace as it helps

reinforce and clarify the standards expected of employees and help employers

manage staff more effectively as it defines what is acceptable and unacceptable in

the workplace. Workplace policies establish boundaries for acceptable behaviour

and guidelines for best practices in certain work situations. They offer clear

communication to your employees as to how you expect them to act. Policies also

contribute to the overall culture of the workplace, because they instil norms and

PHOEBE Garden creates company policy to give guidance to the employees

on the conditions of their employment and the policy they must follow. Having a

well written policy is very important because it allows the employees to clearly

understand their roles and responsibilities within the organization.

CHAPTER 3
MARKETING ASPECT

In this chapter the market study and market segmentation of the business

are elaborated. It explains the target market, SWOT analysis and summary of SWOT

analysis. It also discusses the competitors price checking and consumer buying

behavior of our customer. In this section the proponents also tackles marketing mix,

and strategy. The product life cycle stage and the marketing share are equally

discussed.

Research and Survey Locale

The proponents did survey in people in San Pedro and nearby areas (Binan).

They surveyed 500 people and get there feedback regarding their wants. And how

do they want to take care of their plants.

Ethical Consideration

In the duration of this study, the proponents made it sure that ethical

considerations were property observed. The aims and objectives of the study were

conveyed comprehensively to the respondents. The respondents were not faced to

participate in the survey. On the other hand, the instrument or questionnaire that

was constructed by the proponents did not contain any degrading and

discriminating statement s or languages that may offend the respondents. More so,

the questionnaire that we designed aimed to collect only relevant information for

the study and there was no private or personal questions asked from the

respondents. This worked from different author that was used in any part of this

study was properly referenced cited and quoted.

Presentation, Analysis, Interpretation Of Market Study Result

It is analyzing and gatherings information about a market to know if the

company will be suitable in a particular market and to know what products or

services are right to be offered in a market and to gather information about the

competitors of the business in that particular.

Based on the analysis question number 2 173 out of 500 respondents

answered “Libangan” while other respondents answered“At iba pa” , Furthermore,

based on the survey results among 4 respondents most of themused plants as

benefits and its beautification in Garden or House.
