then?
The elements of the story are
character, settings, plot, conflict,
and theme.
Very good!
What is character?
Character is the person or animal
Very good! What about the settings? that is talked about in the story.

Settings is where and when is the

Very good! story set.
What about the plot?
Plot consists of the events that
happen in the story.
Very good! What about the conflict?
Conflict in a story is a struggle
between opposing forces.
Very good! What about the theme?
Idea, belief, moral, lesson or
insight. It’s the central argument

B. Establishing a purpose of At this moment we will read a short

the lesson passage

They regret what they did . They all day long . They regret what they
already got low score. did . They already got low score.

What have you notice on the passage

you read? I think there’s something that is
missing that made it a little bit
choppy.
Very good observation.
What might be the missing piece in the
passage?

So this passage lacks in coordinating

conjunction.
Coordinating Conjunctions are words
used to connect words, phrases, and
independent clauses. We use
coordinating conjunctions when we
want to put equal emphasis on the
words, phrases, or independent clauses
that we are connecting.

C. Presenting Examples/ The passage that we read earlier

Instances of the new lesson lacks on coordinating conjunction. It
is what connects the two
independent clauses to form one
sentence.
The first and the second sentence
on the passage that we read can
actually be joined together to form
one sentence by using one
coordinating conjunction.
but what coordinating conjunction
can we use?

Very good we're going to use the

coordinating conjunction but in the
first and sencond sentences it will
now become:
Rj and Ara wanted to have a high
score in their exams, but they didnt
study.

D. Discussing new concepts Our today’s lesson is about sentence

and practicing new skills No. 1 structure. In English there are four basic
sentence structures namely Simple,
compound, complex and compound-
complex. However today, we will only
focus on the first two structures. The
simple and compound sentences.
Sentence A is a simple sentence that is
composed of one independent clause
and set B is a compound sentence
composed of two independent clauses,

Now, what do we mean by an

independent clause?

Independent clause is a group of words

containing a subject , verb/predicate
and form complete thought and it can
stand alone.

What is a subject?

Very good!
What about verb?

The subject if the sentence may be a

single word or group of words which we
call compound subject.

How many subjects does the sentence

contain?

Very good! So there are three subjects.

What are those?

Very good
At this moment we will have a quick
activity.

hair. hair.

Is a simple sentence clear? Yes, teacher.

Okay, then let us proceed to compound

sentences.

A compound sentence consists of two

or more simple sentences which may
be linked in two different ways.
With the help of coordinating
conjunction, simple sentences which
express closely related ideas may be
joined together to form what we call a
compound sentence.

Simple sentences which are related

may be joined by a coordinating
conjunction such as “but” and “and”.

yesterday” is already a complete
thought right? Yes, teacher.

How about the sentence “he didn’t see It has already complete thought
me.” Is it complete or not? teacher.

In compound sentence, two simple

sentence or independent clause are
joined with the help of coordinating
conjunction.
