The italicized words in the sentences before, when, while, because
are called conjunctions. They connect words or group of words in
sentences.
Subordinating conjunction shows a relationship between two
clauses- the dependent clause and the independent clause. It is at the
beginning of every dependent clause. It tells that the dependent clause
depends on the independent clause.
A dependent clause has a subject and a predicate but it cannot stand
alone. It makes the reader wants additional information to finish the
thought. It introduces subordinating conjunctions.

Examples:
I will call you as soon as I arrive home.
Mother washed the dishes before she left.

An independent clause has a subject and a predicate and can stand

alone. It is also called a sentence. It is followed by a comma when it
comes before the independent clause.
Examples:
Lea Salonga has started singing since she was ten years old.
So that he can find the correct answer, Sam reads his book.

Subordinating conjunctions Meaning
