- The culture I chose to represent was Spanish culture and my topic is the ‘Encierro’, Bull run celebrated in Pamplona.

Purpose of Presentation: (ie. To inform, persuade, or demonstrate)

- the purpose of this presentation is to inform people about a totally different kind of festival where people either run from the bull or get squashed under it.

- The most popular bull-run is the 'Encierro' held in Pamplona out of appreciation for Saint Fermin, a revered saint of Pamplona. It has turned into a significant
worldwide making way for tourist attraction.

- Out of my observations, people know very little about various traditions and festivals in Spanish culture, I want my fellow classmates to get to know more about
Spain and its people.

- This information about the bull run will let students know about the bull run and how it is celebrated. Moreover, it would put some light on Spanish culture.

- This Bull run festival is considered very dangerous as many people have reportedly died while running. The angry bulls run behind people on open streets of
Pamplona. Mostly young people participate in this festival, and they risk their lives.

How are you going to introduce your topic? (How will you preview your ideas?)

- I am going to start with putting out some photos of bulls running behind man in white clothes. The Raging bulls run behind people aggressively and the men
literally run for their life.

- History. - The history of this festival dates back more than a hundred years ago
when young people used to jump among the running bulls to show their
machoism, traditionally there are six bulls in this festival. This festival is
celebrated in honour of Saint Fermin.

- Dress code and Fence. - There is no dress code for this festival, however people always wear
white t-shirts with white trousers with a Red Bandana around the neck.

- In the city of Pamplona, a bunch of wooden fences are made to make


the bulls run along the course and to close side roads so they can’t
escape.

- Global recognition. - This festival wasn’t renowned in the world before it was featured in
movies like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, documentaries like Running with
Bulls, and books like Bulls of Pamplona.

- After being featured in these media’s, the popularity of the festival


really picked up and many people started to know about it.

- I will summarize my presentation on how people of Spain have a beautiful culture, and how they participate in different kinds of festivals that people
might not even know of.
- Festivals like “Bull Run” are extremely thrilling and life threatening yet people from around the world go to Pamplona to participate in the festivals.
- It’s said that “Bull Run” has got increasing number of international participants as the festival came into light.

- The festival of Running Bulls shows us how we can live our life the fullest by Facing our Fears. People from around the world who come to be a part of
the festival have many fears and insecurities in them and in a way this “Bull Run” helps them to fight it and face their fear.
