ROLE PLAY

Scenario 1: Teacher Joe already created a new lesson plan for tomorrow and he’s all set. After
doing the lesson plan, he immediately goes straight to open his laptop to post an
announcement in their Google Classroom. He posted something to inform the students and
their parents that there has been a change in the curriculum and thanked them for their
cooperation.

Scenario 2 : Sir Joe, a college professor was on his way to his classroom where he teaches
English. While walking, he bumped into his students and they accompanied him on the way
to the classroom.

Students : Good morning Sir Joe!

Sir Joe : Good morning as well! I am giving you 5 minutes to catch up with your classmates
and talk about your Christmas break. (Students begin talking to each other and catching up
on things that happened to them during Christmas)

Sir Joe : Okay! Quiet now class. I’m guessing that you students have already finished doing
all the tasks that I have given you last week because as I can see there is a bunch of paper
here on my table and I, as your professor, am commending each one of you for all the time,
efforts and hard work that you students exerted.

Gino : Yes sir! To be honest it was really hard for some of us because it was during a
Christmas vacation and we really wanted to spend time with our family and friends and we
also helped them prepare for Christmas. But thank goodness we’ve managed to get it done
in time.

Sir Joe : Yes, that is why I always commend this section for always exerting much effort in
every task that I assign, even though sometimes you guys lack the time. But nonetheless, you
students managed it through. Now, can you guys give a clap for yourselves?

(Students clap for themselves)

Alina : What are we going to do today Sir Joe? I can see that you have something in your
backpack. It looks big.

Sir Joe : Oh yes. It is a laptop and a projector. I was about to present something to the class
for a little ice breaker since that I can see that some of you are quite sleepy!

Slater : Hmm, I wonder what it is this time. Last time we had so much fun that the activity
was so memorable!

Sir Joe : I hope you students will have fun in this activity I’ve prepared.
Scenario 3 : They finished doing the ice breaker and the students helped him packed the
laptop and the projector.

Sir Joe : And that was it! I hope you guys had learned something from our activity and at the
same time had fun.

Hanz : You never run out of ideas to make us enjoy school and at the same time learn from
it!

Sir Joe : Thank you, Hans! But a while ago I can’t help but notice that some of your
classmates aren’t here. Where are they?

Mary : Yes sir, they mentioned on our group chat that some of them can’t go because of
their work schedule but they already passed their tasks and homework, sir.

Sir Joe : Oh okay! Thank you, Mary, for letting me know. But can you tell them next time that
they will need to inform me a day before class if they have a schedule for work? Thank you,
Mary!

Scenario 4 : The class was finished and some of the students helped him pack his things.
While on his way to the faculty room, a student approached him and asks a few questions
and a favor.

Slater : Teacher Joe, good morning again! I was meaning to ask you some questions about
some of the lessons and activities that we’ve already tackled.

Sir Joe : Yes dear? What is it?

Slater : I was having a hard time doing some of the activities that I didn’t know what to do. I
mean, yes I pass on time but there are some of it that I haven’t done correctly and as a
student who wants to be a future English teacher, I want to ask if you can tutor me if you
have the time? I mean it’s okay if it’s just for 30 minutes. It would be my pleasure to be
taught by a teacher like you!

Sir Joe : No it’s okay, Slater! Besides I’m a teacher. It’s my duty to teach students who are
willing to learn. It would always be my pleasure to teach students who are eager to learn
things!

Scenario 5 : Teacher Joe tutored Slater in the topics that he didn’t understand and the
student was very happy because Sir Joe had taught him and made him understand the tasks
clearly.

Slater : Thank you so much, Sir Joe! It was a big help! Is there anything I can do to pay you
back?
Sir Joe : No it’s okay dear! All you need to do is to study hard and strive hard so that you can
be a teacher like me! One day, you’ll be on my shoes and you’re the one who’s going to
teach those people who need your help. Okay?

Slater : Yes sir! I will do my very best to finish this course and get a license so that I can make
my dream come true! You’ve given me inspiration, Sir Joe! Thank you so much!

Scenario 6 : As he was going home, Sir Joe was so happy and overwhelmed. When he got
home he checked his lesson plan and saw that everything was on track and he immediately
planned for tomorrow’s lesson and prepared everything.

Sir Joe : Today was so fun and I was so happy because I have helped a student who’s
struggling with his academic performance. I hope he can pass through it.
