Story

The Story of Lanipaw

Once upon a time, there was a man
from the skies who fell down on Earth. The
man was named Tapugak. The clouds
could not carry him and gravity kept
pulling him downwards. With a big bang,
he landed on top of Lanipaw.
Learner’s Copy

Lanipaw is a tree that grows only in

lakeshores. Old folks believed that
Lanipaw doesn’t grow leaves or twigs
on top because it is the area which
Tapugak has built his fortress.

Today, Lanipaw remains to be

precious among the community
people. It is considered sacred and
believed to be owned and
maintained by a group of Diwatas
who worshipped Tapugak. During full
moon, the Lanipaw shines brightly and
distinctly reflects the light from the
moon.
