Write the hydrologic features that are important for siting a landfill as follows:

1) Air quality:
The wastes filled in a land will cause gas volatilization, generation of gas, migration of
gas, and dispersal of gas through wind. The air quality will be achieved by proper
designing and planning of landfill. The siting problem will mainly cover the areas like
soil, geology, hydrology, and climate.

2) Groundwater quality:
The water level to be tested is based on the pH value. The groundwater placement from
the landfill has to be followed to maintain the quality of water. The water should be used
for drinking and other purposes. Proper monitoring of groundwater will ensure the
quality of water.

3) Surface water quality:

Chemicals and pollutants should not be added in the subsurface water storms like river
and streams. The pH level should be monitored to use the water in an effective way.

4) Subsurface migration of gases and leachates:

The siting for landfill should be far away from the living area to avoid pollution from
gases.
