1. What is the importance of gas exchange for the organisms?

Gas exchange is the process by which gasses move between the organisms and the environment. This is
the primary function of the gas exchange system and is essential for ensuring a constant supply of
nutrients that fuels our cells as well as removing waste products to prevent accumulation

2. What is Homeostasis and its importance to the body of an organism?

Homeostasis helps animals maintain stable internal and external environments with the best conditions
for it to operate. It is a dynamic process that requires constant monitoring of all systems in the body to
detect changes, and mechanisms that react to those changes and restore stability.

3. How does positive feedback mechanism helped maintain homeostasis in the body?

Positive feedback occurs to increase the change or output: the result of a reaction is amplified to make it
occur more quickly. Feedback loops are biological mechanisms whereby homeostasis is maintained. This
occurs when the product or output of an event or reaction changes the organism's response to that
reaction.
4. What are different stages of negative feedback mechanism?

The four components of a negative feedback loop are: stimulus, sensor, control center, and effector. If
too great a quantity of the chemical was excreted, sensors would activate a control center, which would
in turn activate an effector. In this case, the effector (the secreting cells) would be adjusted downward.

5. What is the importance of temperature regulation in the body?

Temperature regulation is a complex and critical process for maintaining health. Impairment to this
process can lead to systemic effects and serious health consequences. The body needs to balance heat
made with heat lost and ideally, the body should stay 37˚C with a variance of 2 degrees to maintain
thermal homeostasis.
