Session: Digitizing 21st assessments using ICT tools and applications

Key Assessment is an important instrument to evaluate the teaching

Understandings and learning process. It should give a good improvement for
to be learners’ achievements and opportunities to manage and know
developed
their own learning. Teachers should know what the learners’ need
and create an assessment that is interesting, sufficient, and
innovative. Therefore it is a challenge for the teacher to create an
innovative assessment by designing an appropriate test using ICT
tools and applications.

Technology can be used to assess the learners in a

learning process. It can be a common thing that a teacher can use
technology to replace the conventional test (paper-based test).
Exam View is one of the innovative on-line applications which can
help the teacher in assessing the learners' work without collecting
their paper or any devices. It collects real-time formative
assessment data which can be used by teachers to restructure
their lessons. This assessment tool allows teachers to collect
learners' work on the spot without collecting their paper or any
devices that they used. It provides the learners to participate and
engage in learning.

Digitized assessment is a significant technological

advancement that should be involved in the education system
nowadays, therefore teachers need a training to capacitate
themselves using ICT tools and applications to digitize
assessments.

Activity Activity 1: Who Am I ?

Flash the definition of important words let the participants guess
the answer.

Analysis Present the work of each participants and discuss their answer.
Let them give the definition of their answers.

 What important words are being identified?

 Do we need this in teaching?
 Why?

Generalization applications.

1. The concepts, methods and applications involved in ICT

are constantly evolving on an almost daily basis. It’s
difficult to keep up with the changes because they
happen so fast.
 While teaching our main focus is on the following
three words behind ICT: Information Communications
and Technology
 A good way to think about ICT is to consider all the
uses of digital technology that already exist to help
individuals and organizations to get information.

Steps:
1. Install Exam View
2. Open Exam View Test Builder
3. Create New Question Bank
a. Question Bank Title: Sibunag 2 Assessment (example)
b. Subtitle: MTB 1 (example)
c. Click NEW tab > Select Question Type > Type or copy
Paste your Questions and Answers
d. Click Record in every entered question (Continue Same
Process until desired number of questions reached)
4. If DONE click SAVE or CTRL+S a. Create File Name b.
Click Save
5. Close the App
6. Open Exam View Test Generator
7. Create A new Test using Wizard
a. Enter Test Title
b. Open the folder you have saved for Question Bank
Title: Sibunag 2 Assessment (example)
c. Click Select > Next > Select All > Next > Finish
 8. Click File > Export > Blackboard 7.1+
9. Enter File Name > Name > Description > Directory
10. If DONE Go to your created gnomio.com site
11. GO to My Courses > Click the course
12. Under General click Add Topic > Click the Pencil Button
> Enter your Desired Subject
13. Add an activity or Resource
14. Choose and click QUIZ
15. Type the Name of Quiz and Description
16. Follow and tick the boxes needed to answer
a. Timing
b. Grade
c. Layout
d. Question Behavior (Click Deferred feedback esp. for
summative assessments)
e. Review Options (see attached picture below)
f. Appearance
g. Safe Exam Browser
h. Extra Restriction
i. OverAll Feedback
j. Common Module Settings
k. Restrict Access
l. Activity Completion
m. Tags
n. Competencies
17. If DONE click SAVE and Display
18. Click Question Bank
19. Click Drop Down QUESTIONS
20. Click Import
21. Click under File Format > Black Board
22. Choose File
23. Upload a File (ang naka ZIP nga folder)
24. Click IMPORT
25. Click CONTINUE
Application Ask one participant to demonstrate how to digitize assessment
using Exam View.
