Learning Competency: Analyze the effects of media and technology on fitness and
physical activity issues. PE10PF-IIIb46 OHSP PE 1 Q1 – module 1

I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson 80% of the students should be able to;

 Identify the effects of media and technology on fitness and physical activity
 Discuss the effects of media and technology on fitness and physical activity
 Value the importance effects of media and technology on fitness.

The teacher will group the students into 2 groups and each group we need to

issues?

Technology has indeed changed mankind's way of life. It made things simpler and easier for
everyone. Everything is automatic and timed. However, along with various technological
advances, came the decline in physical activity among people nowadays. Instead of going out,
exploring nature, or walking around the park, most of them would rather stay at home and
watch TV, play video games, or surf the internet. This is a common situation which needs to
be rightfully addressed, especially among the youth.
Habits started in childhood and reinforced in the teen years may become lifelong
behaviors. Hence, both children and teenagers need to be exposed to numerous messages
regarding the importance of making healthier choices about food and doing regular physical
activities. Though the proper use of media and technology, global awareness shall be raised,
which in turn would help disseminate information about healthy food choices and beneficial
forms Of workout.
This would also teach the youth on how to correctly interpret nutrition facts on food
labels as well as assess the information that they learn from print, radio and TV advertisements
about the food that they eat,
When one finally learns how to use social media and technology appropriately, he or
she will be motivated to achieve his or her own fitness goals by doing correct exercise and
achieving proper nutrition. In his way, media and technology can be considered as helpful
tools in maintaining health and fitness.

Here are some negative and positive effects of media and technology on fitness and
physical activity.
Negative Effects

The teacher will group the students into 2 and each group will give an idea and
explain how to lessen the negative effects of media and technology to physical fitness.
