Introduce and show the Elijah video

Bible reading:

1 Kings 17-41 Elijah meets king Ahab and we see the challenge of God vs their local false god,
Baal, the favorite god of Ahab’s queen Jezebel

2 Kings 2: 8-11 Elijah did not die but was taken taken directly to heaven. Elijah was not the first
person taken directly to heaven but the second. Enoch, approximately 500 years after Adam and
Eve was also taken directly to heaven.) May consider adding Enoch to the class timeline. This is
important because God told Enoch that the earth as they knew it would suffer after the death of
Enoch’s son, Methuselah, who lived longer than any person. And when he did die, the great
flood came. See Noah.

1. Did anyone see any difference between what was on the video and what we read in the
Bible? (On the first and second class, tell the kids that this question is coming as we start the
video.)

3. Why was Elijah so scared of Ahab, when God was watching after Elijah?
