Lesson 1

Adam and Eve (Garden of Eden)

Open with prayer.

In this first class, have all kids tell their names. It helps to get some stick on tabs so kids can
write their first names and place the name on their chest so all can see the name. The
teacher/facilitator must call with correct names. This continues in later classes as new students
attend.

Introduce and show the Adam and Eve video.

Bible reading: Genesis. Feel free to add, shorten or change this reading which may be necessary
based on the length and content of the Bible video you use. All video’s I saw cover the ‘fall’ and
Cain killing his brother, Abel.

Genesis 3: 1-13 Temptation of Eve

Genesis 4: 1-15 Cain killing Abel

This reading takes 5 minutes. But keep in mind that the suggested verses in this lesson and all
following lessons may need to be lengthened or shortened based on available class time.

Some of the videos may not mention the name of the third son of Adam and Eve, Seth. This is
important enough to mention and add to the timeline. Circle the names of Adam, Eve and Seth
on the timeline.
Specific questions:

1. What was the name of the first man? Adam (teaching process: (a) even after the first
correct answer, repeat the same question to another student. (b) put this name on the
timeline)
2. What was the name of the first woman? Eve (put this name on the timeline)
3. Name Adam and Eve’s first two sons. Cain and Abel
4. What happened between Cain and Abel? (put these names on the timeline and put a big X
over Abel’s name)
5. What was the name of Adam and Eve’s third child? Seth
6. Name one of the rivers moving in or around the Garden of Eden? Tigris or Euphrates
7. Name the second river moving in or around the Garden?

The rivers are named and described in Genesis 2: 10-14. Note that the Euphrates was called
Hiddekel. Modern maps only show the Tigris and Euphrates but satellite images show landmarks
of two additional former rivers, currently dry river beds for a long time.

Open ended questions:

1. Did anyone see any difference between what was on the video and what we read in the
Bible? (On the first and second class, tell the kids that this question is coming as we start
the video.)
2. What was the best thing you saw from either the video or the Bible reading?
3. Where do you see God’s love for Adam and Eve?

Closing: Pass out paper to each child that has the Lord’s Prayer and have everyone read the
prayer together.
