Lesson 2

Noah (The Flood)

Open with prayer.

In this second class, assuming there will be new students, have all kids tell their names. Consider
again using stick on tabs so kids can write their first names and place the name on their chest so
all can see the name.

Introduce and show the Noah video

Bible reading: Genesis. Feel free to add, shorten or change this reading which may be necessary
based on the length and content of the Bible video you use.

Genesis 6: 5-27 Pre-flood

Ch. 7 and Ch. 8: 1-12 Flood

This reading takes 9 minutes. But keep in mind that the suggested verses in this section and all
following sections may need to be lengthened or shortened based on available class time.

Specific questions:

1. What was the name of one of Noah’s sons? Ham, Shem, Japheth Everybody together
now, give this name: go!
2. Who can name another son of Noah? Everybody together now, give this name: go!
3. Who can name the last son of Noah? Everybody together now, give this name: go!

Circle the names of Noah and Shem on the timeline showing these are ancestors of Jesus.

Open ended questions:

1. Did anyone see any difference between what was on the video and what we read in the
Bible? (On the first and second class, tell the kids that this question is coming as we start the
video.)
2. What was the best thing you saw from either the video or the Bible reading?
3. How do you see God’s love for the animals on earth?

Closing: Pass out paper to each child that has the Lord’s Prayer and have everyone read the
prayer together. Also, for fun, if this lesson is used for an older crowd, or perhaps even a young
children, just to show possibilities: Genesis 10:25 states the land divided. Appendix C presents
interesting possibilities.

Options – Possibilities: The following image is 3 Chinese symbols that closely represent things
that happened during the time of our 1st lesson and could have been spread east to China after the
Flood and the dispersion of people. What do you think?
