LAZADA CASE STUDY

1. Recognize and defined the functions of logistics and supply chain present in the
case study.

In Lazada's Logistics:
Procurement, is the responsible for acquiring the goods and services from the
different sellers.
Demand Forecasting, where Lazada had to increase its workforce in peak demands
to cater the orders in its platform.
Customer Service, since Lazada also allow their cosumers to leave a feedback and
messages in order to improve or fix their service, and assist them if there are conflicts.
Order Management, where the company's warehouse uses conveyor belt for faster
picking, transfer and delivery of goods.
Transportation, since the goods are delivered through shipping to give convenience
to their consumers.
Warehousing, where Lazada has 54,000-sqm warehouse in Cabuyao Laguna and has
the capacity of five (5) million items, with over 30,000 sellers in the Philippines.
Materials handling and packaging, since the sorting of items is also automated.

In Lazada's Supply Chain:

Plan, where Lazada must have preparations and increased workforce in order to meet
the huge number of demand of the consumer to provide and serve them well.
Make, where in 2018, Lazada established LazStar Academy and also launched
LazMall.
Deliver, since Lazada offers their consumers convenience and a highest-quality
shopping experience and next-day delivery for shoppers.
Return, where the company opened Lazmall which has a 15-day hassle-free return
policy.
2. Identify and describe the strategy groups present in Lazada’s logistics and supply.

Mr Poignant stated that Lazada is taking full control of its own supply chain and
logistics network to improve regional logistics. Lazada warehouses sort 75 percent of
parcels and 70 percent of packages already. Logistics and transportation managers are
responsible for making the movement of goods between trading partners easier,
cheaper and more efficient. Maintain high standards of customer service, reduce costs,
increase efficiency and productivity of logistics operations, gain the ability to target
logistics initiatives that drive business growth, and increase asset utilization.

3. Propose ways on how Lazada will be able to maintain its leader position in logistics
and supply chain using the concept of Supply Chain 2.0 and Industry 0.

Lazada is assuming full control of its supply chain and logistics network in order to
improve regional logistics. Acceleration through new technologies, using the
principles of Supply Chain 2.0 and Industry 4.0, is, in my opinion, the ideal strategy
for Lazada to maintain its leading position in logistics and supply chain. It comprises
utilizing cutting-edge technology in order to save costs, increase mobility, and
customize products. AI, robots, drones, nanotechnology, and a wide range of inputs
are all part of Industry 4.0 automated systems, which allow for customization,
flexibility, and rapid manufacturing. The importance of logistics in supply chain
management cannot be taken lightly. It's used to plan and manage the transfer of
things in a timely, secure, and effective manner.
