● Static- A stationary or unmoving weight or load applied to object, still has a force to it.
● Dynamic- A force that is exerted or motioned onto an object that increases force.

● Tension- a force that acts upon a member in opposite directions (tie)

● Compression- a force that acts in the same direction that bends or compresses objects.
● Torsion- twisting or bending force in anti or clockwise direction.
● Shear- two forces acting in opposite directions to one another.

Load

● Is a weight that is applied across a surface and is distributed either evenly or unevenly. Always
accompanied by a force
● Uneven Load- weight that is not distributed evenly often leading to structural failure or
structural toppling.
● Even Load- weight and force that is distributed evenly, this creates stability, balance and
reliability.
