CONVERSION BOOSTING HACKS FOR YOUTUBE VIDEO ADS

(WITH EXAMPLES)

Add 10-15 seconds of dead time to the end of the video so that when it’s over people have a
chance to click your call to action.

(see last 10 seconds, disregard annotation links)

Tell them where to click AND show them where to click. Add arrows or something similar to
the video in the upper right and lower left to account for both mobile and desktop. You could
also make animated circles over the areas where they should click.

Add in visuals of things you discuss to backup any claims. For example, if you use a third
party publication to support your position you should show a visual of it. Another example is
if you talk about how how well your product or service is reviewed on Amazon or some other
place, you should show a visual of that.

Add a psychological attention grabber to the first 5-10 seconds of your video. It could be as
simple as putting your first sentence in big bold letters (find Drew example). Plenty of other
ideas to get creative. These ideas can also serve as alternate intros to test.

Embed captions into the video during editing process. Make sure they are moving
frequently across the screen so the viewer sees constant movement (psychology of
neuroscience)

Embed a branded URL link into the video for where you want people to go that redirects.
● Should redirect to your compliant landing page but might be a way to get past policy but
I need to think about how to leverage it in that way.

What I had Dean’s team do:


● Add dead footage to end of video when Dean stops talking, maybe add a screen capture
of sales page/someone typing in their info and clicking grab the book on the sales page
to show the potential customers where their click will take them so they are in the frame
of mind of what getting the book looks like.
● Show them where to click on the video, embedded overlays with "Click Here To Get The
Free Book Now" with arrows pointing to the top right and bottom left of screen to show
them where exactly to click.
● Add b-roll footage of Amazon reviews when Dean mentions the 5-star reviews on
Amazon.
● Add some sort of psychological attention grabber to the beginning 5-10 seconds of the
video to explain the concept of the video ad. Examples for this could be Meme style
borders with headlines at the top/bottom of video
(Facebook/Instagram Video style), A big headline (embedded text) on the right of the
video, or some other creative our production team can come up with.
● Add annotations/captions to the video, embedded as well.
