What is coal?
One of the types of traditional energy sources.
They are burnt to create electricity.

Advantage:
Coal is Cheaper than Other Fossil Fuels
Easy To Store

Disadvantage:
It is Nonrenewable
It Causes Noise Pollution
It is Harmful to Natural Habitat and Environment
PROBLEM: FOSSIL FUELS

BURNING FOSSIL FUELS LIKE COAL, OIL, AND

GAS RESULTS IN CARBON POLLUTION, WHICH
CAUSES CLIMATE CHANGE. THE TEMPERATURE
AROUND THE WORLD INCREASES BY 1°C.WE
HAVE TO STOP BURNING FOSSIL FUELS.
ADVANTAGES:
1. EASIER TO STORE AND TRANSPORT
FOSSIL FUELS CAN BE TRANSPORTED QUITE EASILY.
RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES CANNOT BE STORED EFFICIENTLY FOR AN INDEFINITE PERIOD OF TIME. IT IS BENEFICIAL BECAUSE WE
CAN PREPARE FOR THE TIMES WHEN WE NEED THEM.
2. IT IS REALLY CHEAP
WE HAVE A GREAT AND WELL-DEVELOPED INFRASTRUCTURE FOR FOSSIL FUELS.
3. IT IS MORE RELIABLE THAN RENEWABLE ENERGY
EVEN WHEN CONDITIONS OR THE WEATHER ARE NOT IDEAL, RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES USE ONLY HALF OF THEIR MAXIMUM
CAPACITY.

Does not pollute water or air
Renewable, reliable, flexible
Cons:
Forces relocation of people and animals
May cause low level of dissolved oxygen in water

Tidal Energy
-renewable energy powered by the natural rise and fall of ocean tides and
currents.
Pros:
Does not emit greenhouse gases
Effective even at low speeds
Serves as coastal protection against dangerous tides generated during storms
Cons:
May disturb natural movement/migration of fish
It is expensive and not cost-effective
It is a new technology and requires more research and a large amount of
funding
Currently cannot compete with fossil fuel energy

Abundant, renewable, and sustainable source
Does not pollute the air or water
