I. INTRODUCTION
In order to find the equipment on the ship easier, we need to make the list code
for each component of every system. Every equipments in the ship have its own
equipment number that's different with the other's number. List of codes are
according to the designer or/and the manual book of main engine, auxiliary
engine, etc. The given code for each equipment is divided by those function and
the system that they are used.
II. OBJECTIVES
The objectives of codes of equipment is:
a) Making the list code for each component of every system on the ship.

V. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
Every equipments in the ship have its own equipment number that's different with the
other's number. It's used to find the equipment easily. List codes are according to the
designer. The given code for each equipment is divided by those function and the system
that they are used. Based on MaK M 32 Project Guide, tem (planned), and Project Guide
of Auxillary Engine (panned), so we can make the equation for coding the equipment,
such as follows:

From Sularso Haruo Tahara Book, Pompa dan Kompresor page 28. If the the fluid flow
is laminar, we can find the value of the λ with formula Re/64. But if the fluid was
turbulent, we can find with diagram moody.
From the moody diagram we can find the value of relative roughness with formula :
r = E /D ; with E = 0,05 mm
= 0,0005 mm D = 105,3 mm
After that, we input the values of r and Rn to moody diagram to find the value of λ,
and we can find the value is :
λ = 2.4*(10^-2)

BALLAST WATER SYSTEM Re. no. 0

1. Introduction
A ballast tank is a compartment within in a boat, ship, or other floating structures
that holds water, which is used as ballast to provide stability for a vessel itself. Using
water in a tank allows for easier adjustment for weight than the other equipment as
the older ship used. It also allows for ballast to be pumoed out to temporarily reduce
the draft of the vessel when required to enter shallower water. There are two
process using the ballast system which are ballasting (intake sea water from the
sea) and de-ballasting (discharge the ballast water to the sea). In addition, ballast
system can be used as anti-heeling on the ship
2. Objectives
The things that we must understand about Ballast System are:
1 Understand the ballast system inside the ship.
2 Calculate the ballast tank capacity both segregated ballast (ballast that
located in the double bottom) and ballast in the wing tank (in portside
and starboard side).
3 Determining the ballast design based on the Nippon Kaiji Kyokai

5. System Description
Ballast system Is the system used to maintain balance (stability) in the event of
vessel trim or list (capsizes) especially when loading and unloading in the port. To
keep the balance needs to be done charging and disposal of sea water in the
ballast tank-tank, and then can keeping the weight as low as possible and ship can
holds the position to even keel condition. Consideration to get the point the weight
as low as possible, the ballast tank is placed on the double bottom. Process water
ballast differenciated into two ballasting (filling ballast water) and deballasting
(ballast water disposal). Working principle of this system is very simple, where
pumps are used as switching from sea water, sea chest and moved into the ballast
tanks or tank-emptying the water ballast tanks to overboard (O/B). This system is
designed to be complicated due to the pump which served as the fluid can only
transmit sea water in one direction only. Therefore, the design is further associated
with the public service on Board (General Service System) is done in other systems
interconnect. System design ballasts intimately connected with the process of
loading and unloading in ports, especially the time it takes to load the unloaded,
and also directly affect the change of displacement of the ship. in some literature
mentioned that heavy water ballast overall ranged between 10%-15% of the
displacement of the ship. Constituent components ballast system consists of:
a. Sea Chest, a hole in the center of the bilge water sources for all the
needs of ships ballast water needs, including the number and height is
adjusted to the need, which the width is limited to one frame distance.
b. The main pipeline and pipeline branches, is where as the water ballast
tank transportation, to design its diameter can be determined from the
ballast tank volume and overall design of charging time with a
customized time loading and unloading at the port.
c. Ballast Tank, the water ballast is to be located on the double bottom
tanks and partly in tank niche. For tank located on the double bottom
was split into 2 parts, namely part of the port and starboard sides each
consisting of four tanks.
d. The pump used is a type of centrifugal pump with the greater value in the
capacities than the head.

A. Head Static
Head static can be calculated by measuring height different on suction and
discharge side of piping system.
B. Head Pressure
Head pressure can be calculated by measuring pressure difference between
suction and discharge side.
C. Head Velocity
Head velocity can be calculated by measuring fluid velocity between suction
and discharge side of system. Because both have same velocity it can be
assumed as 0 m head.
D. Head Losses
To calculate head losses najor or minor, the viscosity of fluids has to be
determined first.
