I. INTRODUCTION
In order to find the equipment on the ship easier, we need to make the list code
for each component of every system. Every equipments in the ship have its own
equipment number that's different with the other's number. List of codes are
according to the designer or/and the manual book of main engine, auxiliary
engine, etc. The given code for each equipment is divided by those function and
the system that they are used.

II. OBJECTIVES
The objectives of codes of equipment is:
a) Making the list code for each component of every system on the ship.
b) Finding the equipment easier

2. Calculation Volume Capacity of Bilge Well

At this time will be calculated volume Bilge well with NK Calassification listed in
Part D Chapter 13.5.8 Classification Part 3, that the capacity of each Bilge well not
be less than 0,17 m³ capasity. On bilge well planning that goes on OWS System
(See dwg 04 4219 AA048 BG)

Planning Bilge Tank Dimension :

Length : 3 m
Height : 1 m
Breadth : 3 m
So, volume is : 9 m³

3. Calculation Volume Capacity of Sludge Tank

Capacity of sludge tank that could be found at MARPOL 73/78, Annex I chapter II

Plan of tank volume :

Length = 0,6 m
Breadth = 1 m
Height = 1 m
Volume = 0,60 m3

4. Specification of Oily Bilge Water Separator

The capacity of the oily bilge water separator is to be specified according to the
following table

# Capacity of Bilge Pump

Already indicated that the planning system we use 2 pumps Bilga (see dwg 02- 42 19
AA048 -BG). At this OWS system, we use a self primer pump Bilga outside of the
system itself. This time we will look for the capacity of the pump as one criterion in
the selection of pumps are suitable for the following OWS system.

Q= V/T ; with T = Time planning to pump

= 0,45 x 0.25 = 15 minute = 0,25 Hour
= 1,79424 m3/h V = Volume Sludge tank = 0,45 m3
= 0,0004984 A = Vf * 1/4 * π * D2
Q= Vf * A Vo = 2 m/s
D2 = Qf / Vf * 1/4 * π
= 0,017817189 m = 17,8172 mm

# Calculation of Diameter Pipe

After doing the above calculation, still meet the diameter obtained in the
calculation of the diameter of the pipe in the engine room (previous document).
Nominal pipe size = 4 Inch
Outside Diameter = 114,3 mm = 4,50 Inch
Thickness = 4,5 mm
Inside Diameter = Outside diameter - (2 x thickness)
= 105,3 mm = 0,11 m

# Reynold Number
We are looking for numbers reynoldnya first and from here we can see that if Re
<2300 laminar, Re 2300 to 2400 Transition and if> 4000 turbulent. Look from
Sularso Haruo Tahara, Pompa dan kompresor page 28 part 2.4.2 , we can use the

Re = ( D x v ) / υ ; The following information

= (0.1308*3)/(8.7*10^7) D = Inside diameter Main Pipe
= 2480,5654 = 0,1053 m

υ = 8,7 x 10-7 (Temperature 27oC)
= 0,00008490 m2/s

From Sularso Haruo Tahara Book, Pompa dan Kompresor page 28. If the the fluid flow
is laminar, we can find the value of the λ with formula Re/64. But if the fluid was
turbulent, we can find with diagram moody.

From the moody diagram we can find the value of relative roughness with formula :
r = E /D ; with E = 0,05 mm
= 0,0005 mm D = 105,3 mm

After that, we input the values of r and Rn to moody diagram to find the value of λ,
and we can find the value is :
λ = 2.4*(10^-2)
= 0,024

a, Calculation of Main Bilge Line Diameter

The diameter of the bilge main is to be calculated

according to the following formula :

(Bureau Veritas 467-NR Part C / 6,8,1,a

d = Inside Diameter of the bilge main (mm)

L = Length of Perpendicular (m)
B = Moulded Breadth of Ship (m)
D = moulded Depth of ship to the bulkhead deck
(m)

So Main Bilge Diameter is :

dH = 25 + 1,68(106,46(19,04+7,13))^0,5
= 113,68 mm
= 4,48 inch

Then for bilge main pipe, it will be use carbon stell galvanized pipe according to
JIS Standart:

Main Bilge Line

Type JIS G 3452
Nominal size 125 A
Outside Diamter 139,8 mm
Thickness 4,5 mm
Inside Diameter 130,8 mm

The branch bilge's pipe diameter of dry cargo and passenger ships can be
calculated by as following equation:

(Bureau Veritas 467-NR Part C / 6,8,3,a

d1 = Inside Diameter Branch Bilge Line (mm)

L1 = Length of the compartment (m)
B = Moulded Breadth of Ship (m)
H = Depth of ship to the bulkhead deck (m)

d1 is not to be less than 50 mm and need not exceed 100 mm

So Branch Bilge Diameter is :

dH = 25 + 2,16(11,2(19,04+7,13))^0,5
= 61,98 mm
= 2,44 inch

Then for bilge branch pipe, it will be use carbon steel galvanized pipe according
to JIS Standart:

Branch Bilge Line

Type JIS G 3452
Nominal size 65A
Outside Diamter 76,3 mm
Thickness 4,2 mm
Inside Diameter 72,1 mm

c, Calculation Capacity of Bilge Pump

The Bilge pump's capacity can be calculated with formula:

(Bureau Veritas 467-NR Part C Section 10 / 6,7,4)

Q = Minimum Capacity of each pump or group of pump (m^3/h)

d = Internal Diameter of the bilge main pipe (mm)

1. Introduction
A ballast tank is a compartment within in a boat, ship, or other floating structures
that holds water, which is used as ballast to provide stability for a vessel itself. Using
water in a tank allows for easier adjustment for weight than the other equipment as
the older ship used. It also allows for ballast to be pumoed out to temporarily reduce
the draft of the vessel when required to enter shallower water. There are two
process using the ballast system which are ballasting (intake sea water from the
sea) and de-ballasting (discharge the ballast water to the sea). In addition, ballast
system can be used as anti-heeling on the ship

Picture 1.1 Ballast System

2. Objectives
The things that we must understand about Ballast System are:
1 Understand the ballast system inside the ship.
2 Calculate the ballast tank capacity both segregated ballast (ballast that
located in the double bottom) and ballast in the wing tank (in portside
and starboard side).
3 Determining the ballast design based on the Nippon Kaiji Kyokai

5. System Description

Ballast system Is the system used to maintain balance (stability) in the event of
vessel trim or list (capsizes) especially when loading and unloading in the port. To
keep the balance needs to be done charging and disposal of sea water in the
ballast tank-tank, and then can keeping the weight as low as possible and ship can
holds the position to even keel condition. Consideration to get the point the weight
as low as possible, the ballast tank is placed on the double bottom. Process water
ballast differenciated into two ballasting (filling ballast water) and deballasting
(ballast water disposal). Working principle of this system is very simple, where
pumps are used as switching from sea water, sea chest and moved into the ballast
tanks or tank-emptying the water ballast tanks to overboard (O/B). This system is
designed to be complicated due to the pump which served as the fluid can only
transmit sea water in one direction only. Therefore, the design is further associated
with the public service on Board (General Service System) is done in other systems
interconnect. System design ballasts intimately connected with the process of
loading and unloading in ports, especially the time it takes to load the unloaded,
and also directly affect the change of displacement of the ship. in some literature
mentioned that heavy water ballast overall ranged between 10%-15% of the
displacement of the ship. Constituent components ballast system consists of:
a. Sea Chest, a hole in the center of the bilge water sources for all the
needs of ships ballast water needs, including the number and height is
adjusted to the need, which the width is limited to one frame distance.
b. The main pipeline and pipeline branches, is where as the water ballast
tank transportation, to design its diameter can be determined from the
ballast tank volume and overall design of charging time with a
customized time loading and unloading at the port.
c. Ballast Tank, the water ballast is to be located on the double bottom
tanks and partly in tank niche. For tank located on the double bottom
was split into 2 parts, namely part of the port and starboard sides each
consisting of four tanks.
d. The pump used is a type of centrifugal pump with the greater value in the
capacities than the head.
