ISAAL QUIZ BEE REVIEWER

GRADE 10
2nd Quarter
Lenses and Mirror
Refraction occurs due to the differences in density between the two media.
Lenses are transparent materials that bend light through refraction.
Convex mirror is a curved mirror wherein the reflecting surface is on the outer surface
of the sphere so that the center of the mirror bulges towards the viewer.
Concave lens or diverging lens diverges the light rays

Optical Instruments

Electromagnetic Induction
Electromagnetic Induction is a current produced because of voltage production
(electromotive force) due to a changing magnetic field
An electric motor is a device used to convert electricity into mechanical energy
An electric generator is a device that converts a form of energy into electricity

3rd Quarter
DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid)
DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, is the hereditary material in humans and almost all other
organisms
DNA is made of two linked strands that wind around each other to resemble a twisted
ladder — a shape known as a double helix. Each strand has a backbone made of
alternating sugar (deoxyribose) and phosphate groups. Attached to each sugar is one of
four bases: adenine (A), cytosine (C), guanine (G) or thymine (T)

DNA Replication produces two identical DNA double helices, each with one new and one
old strand.
DNA Transcription is the process by which the information in a strand of DNA is copied
into a new molecule of messenger RNA (mRNA)

DNA Translation is the process by which the genetic code contained within a messenger
RNA (mRNA) molecule is decoded to produce a specific sequence of amino acids in a
polypeptide chain.

A genetic mutation is a change to a gene's DNA sequence to produce something different
Biodiversity
Biodiversity is all the different kinds of life you'll find in one area—the variety of
animals, plants, fungi, and even microorganisms like bacteria that make up our natural
world.
Endemic species are organisms that are exclusively found in one area.
Extinction is the complete disappearance of a species from Earth
Natural selection involves the survival of organisms within a certain habitat, and this
survival is related to the adaptations that the organism has. (Charles Darwin- the father
of evolution)
An ecosystem is a geographic area where plants, animals, and other organisms, as well as
weather and landscape, work together to form a bubble of life. Ecosystems contain biotic
or living, parts, as well as abiotic factors, or nonliving parts
Evolution is the change in the characteristics of a species over several generations and
relies on the process of natural selection
Artificial selection/evolution is an evolutionary process in which humans consciously
select for or against particular features in organisms – for example, by choosing which
individuals to save seeds from or breed from one generation to the next. People have
been artificially selecting plants and animals for thousands of years.

James 1:5 (KJV)

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and
upbraideth not; and it shall be given him
