This section describes the procedures for identifying and preventing OHS emergency situations when
working in worksites.

1. PURPOSE
1.1 This section describes the procedures for identifying and preventing the OHS emergency
situations when working in worksites.
1.2 To establish a systematic and orderly response during emergency period and to protect
human lives/property from further damage.

2. SCOPE
2.1 This emergency preparedness and response procedure is applicable for Ash Marine Inc.
while performing abrasive blasting, protective coating, and thermal metal spray
works.

5. RESPONSIBILITIES
5.1 Ash Marine Inc is a service provider of onsite abrasive blasting and protective coatings.
When we are engaged in jobs outside of the premise of the company, Ash Marine only
plays a supportive role. The Client assumes total command and control when
responding to all emergencies.
5.2 It is the responsibilities of Ash Marine Inc. to adhere to the Client emergency response
procedures. Hence, before any workers commence any work in Client worksites, the
workers must undergo the In-House Safety Induction Course conducted by the client.
During the induction course, workers will be trained on the action to be taken in an
event of an emergency such as fire, confined space, etc
5.3 In an event when emergency occur in worksite, the Client will liaison with the public,
government authorities and the media on emergency related matters. Ash Marine Inc.
will have to seek Client permission before they are allowed to comment with the
relating to any emergency occurring in worksite.

5.4 The Client shall ensure appropriate emergency response plans including any facilities,
equipment and regular drills are maintained and to communicate emergency
requirements to affected interested parties, including workers, staff, tenants, hirers,
visitors, suppliers and sub-contractors.
5.5 OHS incidents and emergency situations are identified during the process of Hazards
Identification and Risk Assessment. Ash Marine Inc. will continually work closely with
Client and ensure that reasonably foreseeable OHS emergencies are identified, and
prevention and response procedures are established and maintained.
5.6 Ash Marine Inc. shall ensure that the following measures are established and
implemented in order to prevent OHS accidents, incidents or emergencies condition:
 Establish and maintain Operational Control Procedures so that all their work
activities are carried out safely
 Participate in Client OHS emergency drills
 Inspection of fire extinguishers and other emergency equipment is conducted
periodically, and serviced regularly to ensure proper functioning (under their
jurisdiction)
 Educate and communicate with workers and suppliers so that everyone knows the
emergency and evacuation procedures of the worksite
 Warning signs and other pictorial displays are put up appropriately to warn
personnel of hazards and danger
 Operational Control Procedures, including permit to work system for hazardous
work activities, maintenance and counter-checks are being followed consistently.

6. PROCEDURE
6.1 Probable types of emergency situations may include the following:
 Fire
 Structural Collapse
 Confine Space Emergency
 Traffic Emergency
 Others (Covid-19, influenza, SARS, H1N1, etc)

7. RESPONSE TO EMERGENCY SITUATIONS IN WORKSITES


7.1 Fire
 Raise alarm for help
Anyone  Attempt to extinguish any incipient fire with the available fire fighting

if it is unsafe to do so,

 Inform the Client OHS Personnel; (Providing the location of incident, type of

7.4 Traffic Emergency


This category includes collisions of road vehicle or other mobile equipment or structures
posing a threat to personnel or to the site facilities.

7.5 Others
Corona Virus, SARS, H1N1 : For this emergencies, Ash Marine Inc will comply with
Client’s Preventive Procedure & Advice.

8. EMERGENCY EVACUATION DRILLS


8.1 Ash Marine Inc. will always participate in evacuation exercises conducted by Client to
prepare the workers for safe evacuation in the event of an emergency.

9. REVIEW
9.1 The emergency preparedness procedure will be reviewed annually, changes with the
Client emergency procedures, or as when require, to make sure it is up to date.
