Sanitation Safety Plan

The recently published excreta flow diagram (SFD) Lite Report for Sakhipur in 2021 shows
that around 58% of the excreta in Sakhipur is safely managed and remaining 42% as unsafely
managed¹.

1.6 Objectives of the SSP


The following objectives have been set for sanitation safety planning for Sakhipur municipality:
• To safeguard the health of all groups exposed to activities related to septage processing,
including septic tank desludging, transportation and treatment
• To provide safety assurances for compost produced and safety of users (farmers) of the
compost product
• To safeguard health of local communities and promote the safety of municipality sanitation
workers who may be incidentally exposed to septage or FS, and enhance environmental
protection
• To ensure that the wastewater discharge after treatment consistently meet compliance
criteria
