1. Paraphrasing

A. Paraphrasing is when you take another author’s words

and rephrase them in your own words.

B. When you paraphrase a text, you generally try to not

leave anything from the original text out in your

paraphrase.

C. This is a key difference between summary and

paraphrase.

D. Summary focuses more on main ideas, while paraphrase

attempts to represent almost everything from the

original text.
E. Both summary and paraphrase should be in your own

words.

F. And both summary and paraphrase need to be cited.
