1. Citing Sources

A. Citing a source means indicating in your written

work any time you have used the words or ideas of

another person

B. Why do this?

1. So your reader can access the same sources you

did and see where you got your information from.

2. Giving credit where credit is due for the work

of others.

3. Increases your credibility as an author,

thinker, writer, and researcher.

4. Helps your readers understand what words and

ideas are yours and what are the words and ideas

of others.

5. Protects against plagiarism.
