 Color Display Software Update

There are now several software versions listed on SDT (software download tool). When
updating lift trucks, confirm the correct software version prior to updating components. To
update software, follow the instructions in HPK 000018-15C.
Note: In HPK 000018-15C, the software shown is Rel-45 for the orange display trucks.
However, the update process is the same for all color displays for ETR_2xx and
ETR_3xx lift trucks.
The following instructions clarify the available software versions and which to install:

There are two projects that can be used to download software to the color display 3 series units.
The differences between the two will be covered in the following pages.
Color Display Software Update

MCFA recommends using project ETR_2xx_2015_FG for

the color display 3 series units as it contains all of the
previous software used in these units. This HPK will cover
the installation process for ETR_2xx_2015_FG.

Step 1. After downloading the .zip file (ETR 340-345) from the MCFA Download Center,
extract to begin the installation process. The downloaded files will automatically
install to the correct Judit file on your computer. When complete, connect the
computer to the lift truck and launch Judit. Select project EFG_2xx_2015_FG. Follow
the instructions provided in HPK 000018-15C. When the SDT opens, the screen will
look as shown. Move the arrow to select the software release to install. The
components that require software updates for the release, and the version setpoint
will be displayed.

Release Rel-53 was

the original software for the
2 series trucks. The software
for the first 3 series color
display is based on version
Rel-53, but was not released
as a software update.

The only difference between the

two performance levels is the lift
inverter software.

Reference HPK 000018-15C to determine if the lift

truck is efficiency or high performance. Then move
the arrow to select the correct software release
required. Note: In release 58, the Release Notes do
not show a description of the performance level. It
only shows the amperage of the hydraulic system.
Be careful to select the correct release.

Step 2. Release Rel-58-xxxA. This release version requires installation first. Select your
lift truck’s performance type, then begin the download per the instructions in
HPK 000018-15C. Note: The only difference between the two performance
levels is the lift inverter software.

Step 3. Release Rel-64-xxxA shows four versions. Only install Old Hardware software
versions as identified in the Release Notes (and for lift trucks with serial numbers for
this HPK.) Do not install software identified as New Hardware in the Release Notes
unless you have replaced the VMC30 with the new hardware part (see HPK 000019-
18C.)
Use the proper release. Check the Release Notes first to verify version VMC30 Old Hardware.

Do not use any release identified as

VMC30 New Hardware.

Step 4. Release Rel-64-xxxA VMC30 Old Hardware. This release requires installation
next. Confirm the Release Notes to identify software update as VMC30 Old
Hardware. Select your performance type, then begin download
per instructions in HPK 000018-15C.
Do not install VMC New Software (see next page.)

Do not install the release Rel-64 software in position 1 or 2.

Check the Release Notes. Do not install VMC30 New Hardware.

The differences in the ETR_3xx_2013 project are as follows:

• This project does contain the latest software Rel-64-xxxA. MCFA does not
recommend using this release as it does not contain the earlier software required.

• As shown below, it does have software Rel-64.

• Because release Rel-58 has to be loaded first, and it is not on this project.
MCFA recommends using the 2 series project.
