Application of Flood Control Methods in the Area of Metrogate Subdivision in Sta.

Thesis Statement: In order to address the problem with flooding experienced by Metrogate
Subdivision, a series of flood control operations must be implemented.

I. Typhoons and the floods they bring: An Introduction to the Problem

A. Typhoons are a constant phenomena here in the Philippines.

B. Flooding may bring life in some parts of the world, but it can also bring damge

to heavily populated areas.

II. Flooding in Metrogate Subdivision

A. Metrogate Subdivision was not affected by floods before, it is only now that

Metrogate has been hit by floods of considerable depth and scale.

B. There are two kinds of floods that affect Metrogate, and these are the Inland

and Overflow floods.

III. A Solution to The Subdivision’s Problem

A. In order to create a solution to the problem with flooding, there is a need to

prepare in advanced.

IV. Planning Ahead

A. Planning is necessary for the preparations made for floods to be maximized.

Planning prevents the efforts of the subdivision to prepare itself for the

incoming flood.

B. Construction of levees and some drain system appraisal must be performed in

order to fix the flooding problem.

V. Conclusion

It has been concluded that the possible flood control methods that are to be

implemented on Metrogate Subdivision are, levee construction and drain system


appraisal/repair. These methods would not be a burden to the subdivision, for they

are cheaper than building structures like dams or completely reengineering the

subdivision. They are cost friendly yet effective.
