Typhoons have had a constant presence here in the Philippines. There is no year where a
typhoon has not hit this archipelago. Every year, this country losses money from
infrastructural damages. The problem doesn't stop there. People are also affected, not just
structures. Every time a typhoon hits, people die. These damages and deaths are caused by
effects brought about by the typhoon, like landslides, but there is a natural phenomenon
which causes more problems, and that phenomena is called flooding. Flooding did not bother
Metrogate subdivision before. Typhoons just unloaded their water supply and the water
would just run off into the drain system of the subdivision and into the Silang-Sta. Rosa
River, which is located right beside the south facing part of the subdivision. Another factor
which puts Metrogate subdivision at danger of flooding is its location. It is located in a catch
basin for the water coming from the higher location of Tagaytay. This means that, Metrogate
is bound to receive additional water from this place.
Flooding has not caused any problems like structural damage or death yet, it is still better
to equip the residents of the subdivision with the necessary knowledge about flood control
methods.
