IV. PROCEDURE

PRELIMINARY Prayer:
ACTIVITIES
1. The teacher will lead the prayer.

“In the name of the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit.

Our father, who art in heaven

Hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
Amen.

In the name of the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit.

Amen.”

Greetings:

1. The teacher will greet the students and vice-versa.

“Good afternoon class!”

Attendance:

1. The teacher will check the students’ attendance by calling their

surnames.

“Very Good Class because everyone is present today!”

Classroom Management:

1. The teacher will remind the rules to be followed during class

hours.

a. Be polite.
b. Listen to the teacher’s instruction.
c. Raise your right hand if you want to answer and if you
want to say something.
d. Do not talk when someone is talking.
e. Avoid using cellphones during class hours.

Checking of Assignments:

1. The teacher will ask the students to check their

assignments.

Review:

1. The teacher will ask the students about the previous lesson.

Questions:

a. What did we discuss last week?

Motivational Activity:

“GUESS ME!”

1. The teacher will pick six (6) names of the students to answer the
following questions.
Direction: Name the postulate or theorem that can be used to prove
that the triangles are congruent.

Reading of Objectives

1. The teacher will read the following objective:

At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to:

A1. ACTIVITY
a. Solve problems and prove statements by means of the AA
Similarity

Activity:

“I WANNA KNOW!”

1. The teacher will divide the students by two (2) groups.

Direction: Solve the following proportion.

A2. ANALYSIS 1. The teacher would ask the class the following questions:

Questions:
a. Based on the activities, how did you get the answers?

b. Why do we need to analyze and evaluate the statements

before having an answer?

A3. Discussion:
ABSTRACTION
1. The teacher will discuss the following concepts.

The AA Similarity Postulate: If the corresponding angles of two

triangles
are congruent, then the two triangles are similar.
Condition: ∠𝐴 ≅ ∠𝐷
∠𝐵 ≅ ∠𝐸,
∠𝐶 ≅ ∠𝐸
Conclusion: ∆𝐴𝐵𝐶~∆𝐷𝐸F

The AA Similarity Theorem is derived from this postulate.

Theorems on triangle similarity

1. The AA Similarity Theorem: If two angles of a triangle are
congruent to two angles of another triangle then the two triangles
are similar.

Given: ∠𝐴 ≅ ∠𝐷
∠𝐵 ≅ ∠𝐸
Prove: ∆𝐴𝐵𝐶~∆𝐷𝐸F

Example 1:

Explain why the triangles below

are similar. Then write a
similarity statement.

Solution:

The two triangles are similar because of AA Similarity Postulate;

m∠R = m∠V = 45°, therefore ∠R ≅ ∠V.
Also, ∠WSR ≅ ∠BSV because of Vertical Angle Theorem.

The similarity statement for the above triangles is ∆𝑊𝑆𝑅~∆𝐵𝑆𝑉.

A4. Direction: Determine if the two triangles are similar.
APPLICATION
Since m∠M = m∠Q = 120° and
m∠O = m∠R = 40°,
∠𝑀 ≅ ∠𝑄 and ∠𝑂 ≅ ∠𝑅.

By the AA Similarity Postulate,

∆MNO ~ ∆QPR

VALUING 1. The teacher will ask reflective questions.

Questions:

a. What have you learned about the AA Similarity Postulate?

ASSESSMENT 1. The teacher will give a quiz for the students.

Assessing
Learning Direction: In a ½ sheet of paper, fill the missing statements/reasons.

ASSIGNMENT 1. The teacher will give the class an assignment.

What do you mean by SAS Similarity Theorem?
